Thank all of you for your concern. This storm is so huge that even though it's still well south of here, it started raining lightly at noon yesterday. It's a little heavier now and the wind has picked up some. I usually judge the wind by the action of the flag at the police station diagonally across the street, but they've taken it down.

Because this thing is supposed to go inland, then curve around to the north and east to go back out to sea, and is moving so slowly, we're predicted to have rain throughout this week and into next. I'm glad I live at the top of a hill.

I'm staying in touch with my son and my daughters in Central Connecticut.
They are hunkered down and prepared for Sandy.

Right now it is raining heavily in Virginia Beach but so far, nobody has lost power. Last night I cooked meal, for a few days, just in case there is no power. I also keep plenty of tuna, salmon, and snacks to "tide us over". The place where I work is "up and running" but Rob doesn't want me to "risk it" driving there. Hope everybody is not much inconvenienced by "Sandy".

We are physically all okay but we are still "suffering".

I hear that the president will be in NY today. Do you think he will get out there, or do you plan to meet him?

The President is/was also on Staten Island, at least an hour or so ago. Whenever a President shows up at a similar scene, regardless of party affiliation or whether or not you personally like the individual, things nevertheless start to happen and FAST! That is simply a result of the very simple fact that the President of the United States is absolutely and by far, the most powerful individual in the world and nobody, but nobody wants a President truly "P _ _ _ _ d" at them!

Douglas McArthur believed he was beyond the power of a President. Now it's almost, "Douglas who?" As a result of that career ending incident, the President gained a lot of support. From whom, you ask? You will find that answer when you look up how many GI's served in the Pacific theatre in WWII along with far more than a "sprinkling" of those in Korea. One Pacific General was hosting a meeting in the Pacific which "King" McArthur was attending. When McArthur arrived the adjutant came to the office and stated, "General McArthur and his staff are here sir!" The General looked up and slowly said, "Douglas McArthur doesn't have a staff, he has a "G _ _ D _ A M " COURT!

Lawsy how I love History!
