Default Sunday Morning!

Good morning Cruisemates friends, from Space City! Yesterday evening was dull and wet but this morning is clearing and cool. I am watching the Carnival Magic back her way into Galveston thus ending one trip and preparing to begin another. Today is DW's birthday but it is also celebrated with a bitter grain of salt as her eldest son lost his life on this same day two years ago. Yes, both of us have lost adult children in back to back years. God has them in His Kingdom now.

Have a glorious day friends!!

Morning Mates, it is still warm here in Nova Scotia, in fact I was outside with the dogs yesterday in shorts and T-shirt! That is not normal for Nov.!

Yesterday I gave Griffin his very 1st bath - he looked like a drowned rat!

But after 2 towels and a blow dry, he looked much better!

Have a agood day all!

Good morning Michael and Donna and all those to follow. It is a little cooler here today, but unlike Michael, we didn't receive any rain.

Michael, My heart breaks for the losses you and your wonderful wife have had to endure. It is like no other pain. Tell her I will be thinking of her today.

Donna, He is so cute.

Both of my men have left me today. Josh had to work, and Jim is in a tree in the woods. After church, I plan to do nothing but football.

Funny story. I went to the store yesterday. Remember I live in a small town, where everyone pretty much knows each other. I didn't feel like fixin up, so I put on some jeans, and a jersy. People kept looking at my shirt, and making funny faces, and I couldn't figure out why.

Note to self, don't wear a Falcons tee shirt in a town where there are so many Dallas cowboys fans. Go Falcons!!!

I hope all of you have a good day.

Luanne

Mike, I echo Luanne's sentiments. I didn't know you lost your son so recently nor did I know at all about your wife's. It will be two years for me for Fran on Thursday.

Donna, what a classic and adorable picture. I am certainly not alone when I say I look forward to a gander at your menagerie each morning!

Luanne, that's almost as bad as wearing a UT Jersey in Birmingham, especially if you go into a bar on a football Saturday. If UT happens to be playing Alabama, you'd best take body guards and vice versa. As for yours truly, I'm watching NASCAR of course!

Have yet to speak with Adelaide this morning. She is getting so depressed even though I try and keep her spirits up. She is by nature cold and having no heat or hot water is really getting to her. I'm even more concerned by the fact that it's going to get down into the thirties and maybe upper twenties in Staten Island and then a regular Nor'easter rolls in about mid week. God how I pray she has power back on today or tomorrow; everyone else for that matter.

Please if you've yet to do so, give as generously as you can to one of the Disaster Relief funds. I am on a fixed income and I admit I went a bit overboard but of course Adelaide is family and there are beloved Cruisemates out there who are falling into the same boat.

Nightly prayers for those in distress and a request for Blessings upon all continue as usual.

Default Sunday Morning

Good morning. A beautiful, warm, sunny day here. Keith and I were well into the Sunday paper when we realized we hadn't reset the clocks.

Donna, there's no way to take a bad picture of that dog! He is so cute!

We plan to have lunch in Pasadena at P.F. Chang's in a bit.

Have a good day, everybody.

Judy

Thanks Judy, glad you think so, but for every 1 photo I post, I have to delete at least 3 or 4 others because he never stops moving! Most of his pics are blurry!

Good afternoon from Virginia Beach where it is a bit "misty" outside. This morning I ran some washes and then Rob and I went to the book fair at the J.C.C.. To my good fortune, I found a book there that was not at last year's fair and it was reduced to $5.00. There is nothing like a good sale and nobody can have too many books. To our fellow cruisemates, who sustained damage to their homes or are still without power, thoughts and prayer go out to you. (a classmate from high school had a tree go right through her house). Donna, wet or dry, your dogs are adorable!

HALLELUJAH! My wife's niece Adelaide's power as well as that on the streets on either side of her just came back on on Staten Island!!! Just this morning a Con-Ed recording (the computer matches the phone number with the address) informed her it would be by 11:29 pm on 9 November which is Friday. The traffic light at her intersection however is still out so much be on another grid. I was afraid she was on the same grid as is the beach about five blocks away across Hyland Blvd.

Her neighbor, who retired from Con-Ed told her yesterday that he heard the problem encompassing their area was the result of a big transformer being under water and such would require major repair (replacement if it were to be salt water). Now she'll have heat when that Nor'easter hits mid week.

Now let's hope that Laker's Fan is either back on or shortly will be. He however, lives in another part of NYC and I think closer to the water.

BTW, for those thinking ahead about a generator, keep in mind that portable generators use gasoline at the rate of 8 to 22 gallons a day. It's therefore best if you have natural or propane gas service for as long as there isn't a main break and/or you have one of those large propane tanks (it's a very quick conversion from natural to propane via a connector) you'd be better protected. This was proven so much by the inability to get gasoline because there was no electric to power the pumps. Also, I read where the average house needs in the neighborhood of 20,000 kilowatts to run most of your have to's but you could get by with less. An electrician familiar with your home or if not such a person, the point of purchase service could best advise you. I also think that Generac is considered to be one of if not the best.

One last thing I've learned is not to turn on everything at once because that would sometimes prove too much of an instant drain if all homes did that.
