Kate Middleton's portrait

Your first reaction?

http://a.abcnews.com/images/Entertai...130111_ssv.jpg she is so pretty, and the artist just didn't capture the essence...this needs to be redone!

Marsdude January 11th, 2013 11:38 AM

My first reaction is that I could care less about this.

ToddDH January 11th, 2013 01:09 PM

Trip, I agree with you. As it is she looks like a "sour puss."

Lakers Fan January 11th, 2013 02:00 PM

I agree

Totally ,perhaps a photo of Kate Winslet ?

Moiraine January 11th, 2013 02:21 PM

It makes her look like an old woman.

Trip January 11th, 2013 02:56 PM

I can't see the picture any longer...anyone else?

Moiraine January 11th, 2013 03:07 PM

I can see her just fine.

Trip January 11th, 2013 03:13 PM

so weird...it's back...:)

anniegb January 11th, 2013 06:22 PM

She looks older than she is.

Annie

Aerogirl January 11th, 2013 06:45 PM

Her hair looks nice!LOL

Donna January 11th, 2013 06:52 PM

You can certainly tell it is her, but she does look older in the portrait...

Trip January 11th, 2013 06:58 PM

Her eyes look heavy, and her smile is so wrong....She has a beautiful smile, and he made her smirk.

katlady January 11th, 2013 08:33 PM

She is in her twenties right. Cause she looks 50 in that picture. The artist put bags under her eyes, thinned out her lips and gave her winkles around her mouth. Also he gave her a fivehead instead of a forehead and made her face shape too long. She has a Oval face not a Oblong face. Plus she had some cute dimples that artist missed completed. See picture below for the real Kate.

Be honest this was paint by numbers right. The royal family didn't pay this clown for this picture did they. If so I vote off with his head.:D;)

I agree the hair is good, but the hair line is too high on her fivehead.LOL

rollerdonna January 11th, 2013 08:46 PM

I like katlady's photo much better than the portrait, which does not look like her at all...too old, and too much like Celine Dion!

I'm an amateur sculptor and I think I was closer with my likeness then this clown. I did to sculptors of two actors. For the record I can't draw or paint at all. So If she needs a bust done have her call me. But she will have to be patient cause I'm really slow. Experience probably helps with that.LOL

Actor Jared Padalecki

My version not prefect I agree but you can tell it's him I hope.;)

This one was harder. Again I still think I'm closer.

katlady, I don't know either of those 2 actors, but the first one, Jared looks like Mickey Dolenz's love child!

donna

Trip January 12th, 2013 08:34 AM

Kat, not to worry..I like the comparisons......:)

Manuel January 12th, 2013 09:09 AM

With today's technology, why do we need portraits?

I know people who still have rotary phones ;)

Trip January 12th, 2013 05:01 PM

People in the higher economic levels, as well as different regions of the country, have portraits commisioned. Look at back of Southern Living Magazine, and you will see many many ads from artists, with pictures of there work.

LF, they must use those phones as planters:)

I do miss the Rotary phones. So elegant and beautiful. Plus they made the awesome sound. I hate my cordless phones.

The only person's opinion that matters is the Duchess herself. If she likes it, and it is reported that she does, then hers is the only opinion that matters. Do I think it makes her look a little older, yes, but she is still beautiful in the portrait.

ship2shore January 13th, 2013 06:20 AM

Short of being photographed in the nude, the Duchess is required and expected to be completely pleased with pretty much everything that goes on in her life.
Of COURSE she likes it.....

edited to add: I think the artist was trying for a "Mona Lisa smile" here. Give us something to talk about.

balabusta January 13th, 2013 08:58 PM

Katlady's photo of Kate shows the true Kate!

Cruznut2 January 15th, 2013 04:37 PM

What a shame to make that gorgeous woman look like that.

Laura

seadog2 January 15th, 2013 07:49 PM

She (to me)has always been sort of a plain Jane even on her best day. One post mentioned Kate Winslet, ok or even Kate Hudson.
