Default Good Morning May 19th 2013

Good morning from a warm, windy Texas.

Not much planned for today.

I do hope that all of you have a good weekend, and your week is even better.

I don't think it is said enough about how much people mean to you. Remind them.

Take care all, and May God Bless you and your families.

Luanne

Morning Luanne, you're one of those people who mean a lot to me!
It is yet another freezing, wet and miserable weather day here in Nova Scotia. Yesterday we actually had snow....and sleet, and rain.
Those who were working outside cleaning the site at the Ship Hector wore winter jackets, toques, (hats), gloves and long johns!
Inside wasn't much better, just drier, there is no heat because we are a summer operation. Dusting, sweeping, mopping, cleaning toilets and windows kept us warm!

Today I am sore from having mopped 3 stories of the building yesterday. I'd like to take it easy, but we're expecting company for dinner and they are bringing their 3 dogs, so the 2 puppies will hopefully keep Griffin out of trouble for one day!

I am trying out 3 new recipes today, maybe risky when I'm having company, but they all look so good! I'll let you know if they turn out ok....

Good morning everyone:

I guess I should have mowed the lawn on Friday. We've been having rain, off and on, ever since and it looks like it will stay that way until Tuesday. We need the rain but I think I will be baling the lawn instead of mowing it by then.

I'm feeling pretty crappy today. Yesterday after noon, Betty and I went to see Star Trek and I had a complete "duh" moment. I bought Malted Milk Balls for my movie snack. My brain was definitely not engaged when I bought them and when I ate them. They are loaded with wheat. The light finally went on in my head on the way home when I started feeling "queasy". Last night was not fun and I still feel like I went through the wringer.

I think I'll just spend the day letting things get back to normal.

I hope everyone has a better Sunday and a great upcoming week.

Take care,
Mike

Good Morning Luanne ,Donna & Mike

Cloudy but very warm here today and talk of sever storms tomorrow.

Did anyone see 48 Hours last night? It was on my beautiful city and the herion and murders that are out of control. It was odd for me watching it because we're so far removed from the area that it makes it seem to be in another state not right here in my town, however it's people from al over the city and burbs driving to the are to get drugs.

Taking mom out flower shopping for her garden today , her knee is still not right and still has trouble walking for too long.

Mike....not good ,feel better.

Have a blessed day mates!

Geesh! What problems I've had logging in! It's my computer though. I recently have been inundated with pop-up ads like they're going out of style. To my way of thinking, that LABSOLUTE LAST PLACE I'd advertise is in a pop-up ad. I'm keeping a list of what entities NOT to patronize! My "new adopted son" Tyler is in the process of cleaning off my computers. So far he has completed my laptop and is working on my older PC. Then I'll turn my primary over to him. OK, 'nuff said about that.

Mike, how I commiserate with you! In my case, it's my back that has gone to Hell in a handbasket. I am now living on Lortabs but I'm going to have another "picture" taken and see if anything's changed (i.e.: a new unknown injury, etc.) for if not, I don't know what I'll do. As a comedy group from the late fifties once said, "Booze is the only answer!" I ain't travelin' that road again, though. Maybe I can "cop" some of that Heroin (or "Herrron" as the junkies in New York used to say). To use another phrase from an earlier era, "Picture that!"

Mike, I don't know what I'd do if I was gluten intolerant. It must be so difficult for you to order in a restaurant, simply because there is wheat gluten in things you'd never guess. Good luck son (yeah, you're young enough I think to be my son) for I have a friend with the same problem and I know what he goes through.

I hope, RD, that warm weather will finally reach you. Here in upper East Tennessee we went from winter to about one week of Spring and Whammo!, we're now into summer with the highs next week to often be in the mid to upper 80's.

I did so want to come to Ray's "Central Florida Dinner" but I just can't travel yet. Those of you regulars that I didn't get too meet previously, I'll truly miss. Also I so wanted to swap war stories with Ken once again. As he knows (as does your husband LS 80), once a lawman, ALWAYS a law man. With the tragedy of Boston and other things occurring, I so miss strapping on my "big iron" and going to work, even more so than I ever imagined I would even after almost 18 years of retirement. But, I retired because it's truly a young man's game and there ain't no room for the old geezers such as I. Gosh, I can hardly even walk today, even with a cane! I used to teach Interpersonal Communications to new and even in-service training classes. I didn't tell them that the only "Interpersonal Communication" I needed was either in a size 13 Brogan or in the crook of my trigger finger. For those who may be ready to "pounce" at that last sentence, don't; simply because regardlessof the context, I am virulently against brutality. Nevertheless I subscribe to the axiom that God created two types f people, "Them's that should carry guns and them's that should be shot by 'em!" Really think about it and you'll realize it's true.

Hope everyone has a magnificent week and in case you're wondering, yeah, the prayer list is still alive and kicking. If you want to add anyone anonymously, please just PM me.

Love to all my Cruisemates and God Bless!

Lakers Fan,
Hang in there old Phad'nah, 'cause next week it's supposed to be sun filled with highs in the mid to upper sixties.

Wow...don't log in for . Weeks of so and there's a fancy new website?

Hope you all have been well! Just got home from camping with my boys for the weekend. The bboys love it so they talked me into a camper a few years back. Mama is a city girl but I hold my own. Though I enjoy the campfire with a dry merlot rather than beer

Have a wonderful week!

Todd,

Gluten free is not that big of an issue. Believe me, my size proves that I have found plenty of things to eat without gluten.

This was the first time that I just "screwed up" and ate something without thinking about it. I have been bitten by eating things that you wouldn't think would contain gluten. Polish "White Wurst" that used flour as a binder and the infamous "Instant Rice" debacle on my February fishing trip. The instant rice was coated with a gluten based "modified food starch" that didn't list the contents of the starch. That one was really nasty.

Otherwise I have a fairly easy time in restaurants. It is interesting to see how many restaurants now offer gluten free labeling on their menus and also have gluten free alternatives. A good friend of ours has a nearby Asian restaurant and she now stocks gluten free soy sauce to use in my dishes. Look at the label on soy sauce, wheat is usually the second ingredient behind soy.

I have never been a big bread eater, (except on cruises) so that isn't too much of a problem. Desserts can be tricky but there is always ice cream. When cooking at home I have no problems. I use a good gluten free flour (C4C) and for gravies, sauces, cakes, cookies and quick breads you can barely tell the difference. If you use it to make regular bread, it tastes good but is quite dense.

The Malted Milk Balls has been the only time that I just spaced out and I don't think I will again. However, I lost a few pounds today, so it ain't all bad.

Take care,
Mike
