There is another way.

I am a frequent flier (nearly 1 Million miles per year) who never has TSA problems.
I refuse to take a flight into or out of the USA.

If I must go to / from / through North America, I choose either Canada or Mexico.

This was being advertised on our flight yesterday. Sadly it is only a few airports as of right now.

If it applied to all airports, I would go for it.

So we are invited to cough up dollars in order to get "better" service from the TSA at a few airports. What a country.

Here's a better idea: take the politics and paranoia out of the TSA system and replace them with a professional approach to security.

Look, in all the years since 9/11, they still haven't even figured out a way to expedite flight crews through security, even though these people are subjected to rigorous background checks, and, let's face it, if a pilot wants to take down a plane, he/she doesn't need an exploding shoe.

Every professional security person will tell you that successful security focuses far more on people than it does on "stuff." But we hire Keystone Kops to man the checkpoints, train them poorly with ineffective procedures.

We pay untold billions in tax dollars to keep this charade running 24/7/52, and now they're inviting us to pay to become "trusted."

Wow.

El Al seems to have it down pat

Flying in and out of non hub airports (i.e. OAK instead of SFO) helps alot

Flying off peak hours or days (tues, thurs) helps

But AR is on target...the TSA checkpoints at international gateway hubs are great vantage points to observe (profile) unusual behavior by professionals who are incognito to the travelling public

Can I pay extra to have the cute TSA agent pat me down? Also would I get in trouble for having a Barry White song playing in the back ground during the pat down? I mean aside from my hubby getting mad at me, cause I can totally handle him.

AR, keystone kops is correct. I got "shook down" by TSA at the airport in Ft. Lauderdale. I made it through the full body scanner just fine but when they scanned my luggage and back pack they said one of them got a "hit" for nitro glycerin. No joke. TSA pulled me and my wife out of line, took our luggage into a room and went through everything. Turned out they said it was the back pack I was carrying. I got searched. They wiped me and my back pack down with a solution that is suppose to detect residue from explosives. Took about 40 minutes. Nothing was found and all that was said was sorry for the delay you both can go. I told them from the very beginning I was not carrying anything. Madness.

Yes it is sad because I would go for it if it was available for all airports. We have flights to Connecticut and Tennessee coming up shortly.

The really good ones do it so well that you don't know whether you're coming or going.

A pilot in full uniform was pulled aside "for further review" while on her way to work. After being taken to the little room and having her flight bag torn apart, she asked, "What the hell are you guys doing?"

The answer: "We have to make sure you don't have anything that you could use to get in the cockpit."

The retort: "Well, then you'd better take my key, because that's how I usually pull that off."
