I was at a gas station last winter. The guy in the car in front of me went in to pay for his gas. Someone else got in his car and drove off, right in front of me. I guess he left the car running.
It took me (us) a while to realise what had just happened. The guy came out and it was like "Dude, Wheres My Car?"

Forget the purse, this thief got the whole car.

Ship:
There was a report on the local news about this. This is one of the most common ways that cars are stolen. The good thing is that most stations now have video surveillance on the pumps so, at least, there is a record of it happening.

Anymore it is pretty rare for me to "pay inside" for gas.

Linda: Do you have your husband pump the gas or do you find a "Full Service" station to pump it? There is only one full service station within ten miles of my house and the cost is .40 to .50 per gallon higher.

Take care,
Mike

I have always lived very close to full service stations, so I've never had to. We have several in my town too. In NJ, it's a law, you are not allowed to pump your own gas..I would do well there too

This is not so new. I heard this many years ago. It has been my habit to pull out my keys and lock my car when I pump gas. I traveled alone from NH to Florida when I moved here. Everything I owned was in my car including my beloved Miss Lilly. I keep my car locked when I drive also.

If I walk away from the car, I LOCK IT! It stays locked until I finish fueling the vehicle, then I unlock it and drive off. The lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) is like Trip, in that I don't think she has ever pumped fuel in her life! She has ME make sure she has gas in her car!

I saw this, and was glad I did. It sure makes you think.

I normally don't pump gas. When Jim is in country, he keeps it full, and when he is gone, I usually drive Jim's truck, and Josh can fill it for me. He can't drive my car, because it's a stick.
