Default What you do think about this news story?

Teenage Alix Townsend kicked from plane just for her shorts to short ! , Photos / UK News
The fashion trend for young ladies in shorts have gotten quite short. But do you think this lady should have been forced to change her shorts?
Quote:
Alix Townsend,18, was about the fly to Majorca with 18 friends for an 18th birthday party, when an airline supervisor asked her to take off high-cut shorts in front of hundreds of passengers before being allowed to check in. According to the airline, Townsend’s shorts were “cut extremely high and the cheeks of her bottom were visible,”
Townsend says that the airline wouldn’t let her go to the bathroom to change and she was humiliated and started crying after she was forced to strip by the check-in desk at the airport.

Here is a picture of the young lady in the questionable shorts. I feel like the perverts at check in just wanted to see her change. Those shorts aren't that short.

It's incredible that they would not allow this woman to go into the bathroom to change. It's not the first time airlines have been the fashion police. If I was there I would be chastising & shaming them to beat the band. Given my personality, if that happened to me, I would have marched off to the bathroom anyway..Is there not more to this story?

I think there is more to the story than what's being reported. I have a hard time believing that the check-in staff would make her "strip" at the counter and put something else on. They are opening themselves up to a huge lawsuit if they did. If it was at the counter then there would be many witnesses. Then again, it's England and the laws are different.

Actually, I have seen worse dress with girls in micro-mini skirts.

It's a strange, strange world we live in.

Take care,
Mike

Airline made me strip out of my shorts at the check-in desk because staff thought they were too revealing, says law student, 18 | Mail Online

Turns out Alix Townsend is a law student. So there is a lawsuit pending. The article was first in the Daily mail. I guess the supervisor for Monarch Airlines was female and according to Alix Townsend she asked to use the toilet but was told no. According to Monarch airlines she was never denied use of the toilet. So I guess it comes down to who you believe.

My opinion is the female supervisor decided she wanted to put Alix Townsend in her place and denied her access to the toilets. What the supervisor didn't realize was that the beautiful young lady she was messing with was also a law student and was going to fight back later. Monarch Airlines is now left doing the PR shuffle. This will get settled out of court. Monarch won't want the hearing. Personally I can't picture Alix just suing them if they allowed her to use the toilets.

The only reason I could see in not allowing her to change elsewhere is if the plane was about to leave and they weren't going to hold it. If you leave to change in the restroom the plane won't be here when you get back...That makes it her choice.

In the US I think they would be more concerned about some mother suing their kid had to witness her changing in line.

You think you've heard everything and then something like this...Seem, like there may be something missing here....I think, even if I were way younger, I would still not wear shorts like that, especially traveling, but that isn't the story here...OY.

There seems to be a lot missing here, including fabric for the shorts! The airline and the passenger are both to blame.

The airline employee showed incredibly bad judgement in forcing a young woman to disrobe in public. But as attractive as the young lady is, "walking shorts" length would have been much more appropriate for her flight. Then the situation would not have arisen.
Maybe the young lady will learn something about proper travel attire from this experience.

I don't see anything wrong with the young lady's shorts. I would not have any problem with her being on one of my flights.

Oh, Manuel, of course YOU didn't think anything was wrong with her shorts! That answer is predictable! You're a male!

I bet the shorts were "adjusted" before those photos were taken. And nobody can "force" anyone to take their clothes off, except maybe TSA agents, and that is to be done by same-sex personnel, in private.

The young lady was fishing for a lawsuit. This one is smelly.

1) Seems like the airlines need a posted dress code policy before they can dictate

2) In the 80s everyone wore shorts like that. Short shorts.

(these are actually guys)

Yes I am a male, but I also believe in freedom and equal rights.
Another issue is that the less clothes you wear the less likely that you are carrying dangerous contraband.
