Default TV In Your Cabin On Your Cruise!!!!

How many of you watch tv in your cabin while you are on your cruise? Does your cabin category (balcony vs inside) influence your viewing decision.? Does the channel offerings (or lack of) play into it? If your ship has the big screen on the lido pool deck do you watch movies there or in your cabin...do you leave your tv on at night while you are sleeping to have noise and a night light or do you prefer pitch black and silence?

Since I watch alot of tv at home I never watch it on my cruise....however, on our Jazz charters they show live feeds to the late concerts in our cabins every night plus during the day they show all the concerts and activities from the day before in case you missed something...we also have a film festival of Jazz related movies or first run current films both at night on the lido deck and in our cabins, so I wind up watching tv alot

We have an inside cabin on the Jazz charters (because we are never there) but back when I was doing regular cruises, we had a balcony so I much prefer sitting on my balcony late at night watching the moonlight reflect off the waves in total dark silence then tv...of course if the cruiselines showed "X" rated movies

I use the TV for the channel they usually have with the wind speed, ship's position, etc. I'll also catch a news broadcast in the morning. That's it for me.

I'll mostly skip on tv watching...maybe some news and will try and catch the CD's morning show if the CD on the sailing is a good one.

For myself, I don't watch tv at all. I cruised with a cousin once that watched tv pretty much the entire time. She had health problems though. If I'm going to spend time in the room I would rather read.

Default TV in Your Cabin on Your Cruise

Nope, didn't watch it. Channel selection was lousy, but I did like the pics of the ship's position at sea.

On almost every cruise we will kick back and watch a movie. It can be in the afternoon or the evening, when there isn't a show or other entertainment we want to see or do. In the afternoon it is usually after Betty, and perhaps I, have laid out in the sun.

It's a nice relaxing time and I enjoy it. I will also watch the news or other information program. Nothing wrong with watching a bit of TV. To me it beats sleeping in the library with a book in your lap.

Take care,
Mike

I hardly watch any tv at home, so I don't bother on a cruise. I certainly don't want to watch CNN; I don't want to hear the bad news around the world, I want to forget it all whole on vacation.
I do like to watch the cruise video that they add to each day to see if I can spot us in it, dancing at the sail away party or sitting at the past passenger party, but that's about it.

I also enjoy watching a movie and or catching some news around the world during a cruise...Also nice to watch the ships position and a camera....I agree, the channels you get are much to be desired...

My tv is always on....while we are getting dressed I can catch a movie, and most likely, pick up where I left off on another day,and maybe see the entire movie at the end of our cruise.

I refuse to be in a vacumn while on a cruise, and, watch the news around the world as we sail. I have been on cruises where there always seems to be something major going on, as when we were in the Med, on the Magic, when they killed Osama bin Laden. I want to know.

We were on the Freedom last year sailing back to Ft. Lauderdale from St Marteen the week
of Hurricane Sandy...we actually left the port 3 hours early to try to beat the storm...about 75% of the Jazz cruisers live on the East Coast

When it became obvious that Sandy was going to be huge...the big screen on the lido deck was packed early every morning watching CNN and the path of the storm
and when it started to rain and rough seas folks stayed in their cabins to watch tv
to follow the storm

It's wierd to watch on tv, the path of the Hurricane and the path that the Captain was
steering the Freedom to outrun the storm...my GF lives in Detroit and was glued to the tv, because I live in New Orleans, I knew I would be ok (for a change) so I went to the concerts

In that instance watching tv in one's cabin was a mix blessing...you knew the Caption was keeping everyone safe, but you are helpless in terms of how you are going to fly home and what you will find when you get there....most cruisers thought that since it was late in the Hurricane season they would be fine...I know better so I had a plan "B"

I'll turn it on after I shower and am getting ready for the day but that's about it, however on my inspiration cruise we had lates seating and the waters were very rough, it was our last night on the ship and we had planned to have a nice dinner and then drinks and enjoying the ship. After we finished dinner the ship was really moving and I wasn't feeling great so we decided to go back to our cabin and let our food digest. I turned on the TV and laid down on the bed,Frosty the Snowman was just coming on so all three of us started watching it, the next thing I know is two hours had past, we had all fallen asleep so I turned off the TV and called it a night.
The weather was so bad that we were delayed getting into port until 1:00 pm and missed our flight.

I do watch a movie mostly on sea days when relaxing in the cabin. Sometimes the ship has some good old classics on. Bogey, Cagney, Robinson. You know the good ones. I watch some news too. I do this mostly late night after all the activities.

We like the movies under the stars big screen for watching a movie! In our cabin we watch the news and check out the different channels that have to do with islands we are gonna visit and ship navigation.

I also will go to the sports bar on board to watch different sporting events that are on T.V.

I wonder how the channel line up is in Fort Lauderdale airport hotels? I want to watch Shark Tank Friday at the precruise hotel. It's ABC network so it should be fine I hope.

CQ, I'm sure that all the hotels will have a station that carries ABC.

Enjoy your cruise.

Well yes I do watch it. Usually late at night or after late dinner if not going out.

On Princess they show old reruns of The Love Boat and we really enjoyed watching those.

On Disney they show all kinds of Disney shows & movies old and new. Some of those were rare and very interesting.

On Carnival I will watch the repeats of the Welcome Show and the CD's morning show (usually a repeat). Sometimes the news.

On Royal Caribbean they have their own in house network in association with CBS so that's all you'll get for network.

CQ...are you thinking on being on the show to "pitch" your idea of opening up "Salsa. Dancing Boot Camp Workshops to Mark Cuban. for his Dallas Mavericks season ticket holders?
