I have today off, but as we always get up early (0400), we did sleep in to 5:30, hence the "late" reference.
It is cold here in the Nutmeg state, and will not get above the upper 20's, according to the forecast. They are also predicting some fairly heavy snow for tomorrow into Sunday, with totals in the 10" - 12" range depending where you are. Since we are in the center of the state sort of between Waterbury and Hartford, we are in that range. But being denizens of a condo, someone else will worry about it.
Today we plan to drive to Newport, RI. No specific reason other than we want to see what new stuff a glass maker on Thames Street has. Also Mrs. S wants to visit a store that sells purses on Bannister's Wharf. We will do our usual Ocean Drive drive, as well as look at the mansions and see how they are decorated. Just from the outside.
Today being the 13th and a Friday, be sure to avoid walking under ladders and having black cats cross your path...although those are superstitions not just for today I think.
This week end we will work on the air and hotel logistics for our TA in April. Airfare back from Europe is not cheap, that's for sure.
So to all who follow, have a great day, and for those in the path of snow and cold, stay warm and safe.
Morning Sid, 5:30 is sleeping late?? 5:30 is too dang early for me!
I just realized that yesterday I posted a morning thread titled "Freezing Friday" and it was only Thursday. apologies if I confused anybody.
Today it still is Freezing Friday! Temp this morning is about -14C and it's going to stay cold until the Big Storm hits on Sunday bringing upwards of 35cms of snow. That will officially put an end to our plans to drive out to our friends' house for a pre-Christmas luncheon.
Today I am off to aquafitness, then work. If I can make it to the weekend, there will only be 5 more days of work left, that is if school is not cancelled Monday due to the storm on Sunday....
Sid's post sure brings back memories, since I live in the Nutmeg State for over 50 years. I love to take a drive to Mystic, Ct. anytime of the year.
We went back for family visits six times this year. Now we are not planning any trips back until after the winter. Mrs. TM does not do well in the cold at all.
To all Cruisemates, I hope that you have a wonderful day, and stay warm.
