Pop Quiz no google

I have four questions for you. Don't use Google and cheat. Also be honest.

1. Can you name the first four President in order?
2. Which President changed the political party for the first time?
3. Name a country that starts with the first letter U?
4. What is the capital of Canada?

BTW I could only name the first three president to my shame. Seems like I should know more stuff. :(

Extra Credit: name 7 of the first 13 colonies.

kandajones December 31st, 2013 03:14 AM

1) No - which is a perfectly correct answer ;)
2)
3) Uganda
4) Ottawa - chosen on this day (Dec 31) by Queen Victoria back in 1857.

and for those reading this tomorrow - Happy New Year :o)

You are right the first question should be

Name the first four President in order. Instead I made it a yes/no question. LOL You didn't try for the extra credit. Can't name any colonies?

Dave Beers December 31st, 2013 09:30 AM

I knew Ottawa and Uganda. For the presidents in order question, they are: Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison.

Dave Beers December 31st, 2013 09:33 AM

And, I think the political party switching had something to do with Lincoln. Maybe it was someone else around that time.

1. Washington, Adams, Jefferson, Madison
2. ???? Changed their political party or changed the direction of their party.
3. Uganda
4. Ottawa

Pennsylvania, Georgia, Delaware, Virginia, New York, New Hampshire, Maryland. That's the first seven that came to mind.

Take care,
Mike

Mike what 2 means is the first president to be of a different political party than John Adams. George Washington refused to assoicate with any political party (smart man). John Adams was part of the Federalist party. So the question is which president was not a part of the Federalist party?

Adams was the only Federalist president I know of. Jefferson would be the answer since he was of the Jefferson Republican Party. Actually he was the Democratic-Republican party but later called the Jefferson Republican Party.

I was wondering when someone would pick up on the fact that the United Sates of America is a country that starts with U. Most people I ask never say USA. LOL

Yup Thomas Jefferson was the first president to "change" parties. It was considered a big deal at the time to have a change of ruling party without war. He was Democratic-Republican and Adams was the Federalist. Interesting side note both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on the same day it was July 4, 1826, the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.

I think it's interesting George Washington refused to acknowledge a party he was concerned it was give one party too much power and believed that could cause problems. I would love to see a serious Presidential candidate decline to acknowledge a party for this reason. I wonder how that would go down. It's so expensive to run a president campaign that they need the party's money. But having political parties really was hinder congress. Also there is too much pressure to vote party lines instead of from what you believe in. Humans have such a need to label everything it's really a bad thing for us sometimes. Anyway that was fun. Thanks for playing.
