Angry This Infuriates Me To No End

I'm sorry I have no sympathy for this girl....none!
She just happened to fall off her balcony and its the ships fault?
You don't just fall off a balcony we all know this and stories like this on TV make me crazy!

She was sure stupid to fall off the balcony in the first place...Just glad she did survive and get saved eventually.

I'm happy to hear she was ok but why when its your fault do you go on TV and blame the ship? I'm 5'10 and top heavy and the rail is pretty high on me, she must have been standing on a chair or table.
It's a good thing her friend was able to get them to turn around the ship and the night vision glasses sure would be a good thing to have on every ship.

Stupid people do stupid things, but it's always someone else's fault!

Like to old story about the lady who put a cup of hot McDonald's coffee in her lap and then spilled it. She sued McDonald's and won because the coffee was too hot! Duh! What part of 'hot' do you not understand?

That would be like sticking your tongue to a frozen pole in the Winter to see if it would stick and then suing the pole manufacturer because there were no signs on the pole warning you not to do that!

Just wish people like this would walk around with signs so the rest of us know they're idiots before we get close to them!!

Of 18 million people who cruised last year, there were only a handful of people who went overboard, most of them were either drunk or doing something stupid like climbing between balcony cabins. From what I remember, there was only 1 who intentionally jumped.

But hey, let's raise the railings to 8' so everyone else has to suffer because of a few idiots. Oh, and while we're at it, let's make them solid steel instead of glass because I'm sure someone somewhere at sometime will break one even though it hasn't happened yet.

I forgot to add;

YOU CAN'T FIX STUPID!!!!

Unfortunately, we can allow them to sue others and usually win!

Things that caught my attention in this article.
Quote:
Sarah admits being drunk from a night of celebrating when she went overboard.

She says she slipped and fell after knocking back several potent cocktails called Long Island Ice Tea's and claims the bartenders encouraged her to buy more drinks by offering her these coupons to the ship's casino.
and
Quote:
Sarah and her Miami attorney Michael Winkleman are now suing the cruise line, alleging that Carnival "abandoned [her] in the middle of the ocean for an unreasonable amount of time."

“That's what this story is about,” said Winkleman. “It’s not about Sarah making a bad decision, its about Carnival making numerous bad decisions and putting her in that position.”

In a statement, Carnival wouldn't comment about the pending lawsuit but in a statement said they, "...conducted a successful search and rescue of Ms. Kirby and saved her life.”
Nope the story is about someone getting to drunk she was messing around on the cruise ship balcony. Unless the balcony railing gave way and fell into the sea with her this was her fault. It's called personal responsibility for your bad decisions and being grateful that the cruise line saved your life.

Now if the railing was defective and broke causing her to fall into the ocean when she simply leaned back against it I would feel differently. But this article doesn't indicate that. So how did she really fall into the ocean? Cause it's wasn't from simply leaning against the railing I have done that a ton and I'm still alive.

Cruise planner isn't it strange how the only people falling off cruise ships are drunk adults. Meanwhile countless children cruise and never "fall" off the ships. So basically children are smarter then drunk adults.

I watched the interview on TV and I felt they spun it a little differently but I may have gotten my panties in a bunch over how they started off with cruise warning, I didn't read the article
.
Yes I know that she believes that she was left in shark infested waters to long and in my opinion 1 second would be too long. I felt the TV program jumped the whole cruising isn't safe aspect of it. Once again take responsibility for your own actions....don't drink so much, I don't care if they were trying to over serve her know when to say when.

Hey here's a thought , maybe Carnival should be suing her for the cost of turning around and the manpower of fishing her out of the water

Also the other cruisers could sue for any missed or reduced port time that took some of the enjoyment out of their vacation because she can't hold her alcohol.

If you watch the video of her "slip"......she is clearly seen putting her leg over the top rail of the balcony.

It takes time to determine if someone fell overboard (how many false reports do they receive?) and then to actually stop a ship greater than 100,000 GRT tons and turn it around? She is damn lucky they found her alive after her stupid actions!

Want to blame someone sweetheart? Look in the mirror!!!!! Maybe your fellow passengers should sue you for interrupting their vacations!

I always get blown away by the mindless nimrods who "fall" overboard and then have the audacity to sue the line because of the victim's own stupidity.

I went over to my nieces yesterday to go over cruise stuff as she and her family and friends are going on their first cruise. My oldest sister was also there and she's one of those people who never travels and is afraid to do anything ....something might happen type.

So as all of us are talking and my sister is just terrified that something's bad going to happen and says "look at the poor girl that just fell off the ship", I said she fell because she was drunk and doing something she shouldn't of been doing, she asked "how do you know that" So I explained you just don't fall off a ship and told her to really give it some thought.

Now my sister has a brain I'm sure of it but it seems that so many think that it's possible to be standing there and just fall off. Later I hear her telling my niece she really need to keep her kids with her at all times no sending them to the kid camp because someone might throw them overboard .......she wasn't kidding

Don't live, you might die!

Don't live, you might die!

Things can happen at home as well, so you might be safer while traveling.

I have no sympathy for this woman at all.
I made an observance that shocked me on the Inspiration. I was with friends. we were out walking the outside decks. We sat for a while to just watch the sunset. The railing was not plexi glass in this area. It was the usual wood on the top with several horizontal bars below. I was surprised to see that the bars were spaced far enough apart that a toddler could easily slip through. My feeling is that this is a tragedy just waiting to happen.

If it was a child that fell off a cruise ship I would feel different about the whole thing. Carnival should change that so a toddler can't fit through.
