Well it's been a fun six days for me. I've spent five of them in the hospital and it wasn't fun. Last Thursday I had a "tummy ache". The tummy ache turned into agonizing pain and on Thursday night a trip to the ER was required. My intestine had snagged on scar tissue from an old surgery and twisted itself around and caused a blockage. Boy, I can't believe how much that hurt. I was immediately admitted and dilauded became my friend. They also put tubes down the throat and every two hours I received a "non-relaxing" belly massage.
They initially told me I had a "blockage" and my mind went to "tumor" but that wasn't it. It was just that food had backed up and couldn't get through until the "kink" un-did itself. I was almost demanding that they go in and cut it out. The head doctor explained that "usually" the gut would untwist itself in three to four days and it would be a massive surgery with a long hospital stay if they did a surgery in the state I was in. It un-twisted after three days. I don't think I've ever been so happy to pass gas and go to the bathroom. I came home yesterday afternoon but my abdomen still feels like someone has beaten me with a baseball bat. I will have to have surgery in two weeks to fix the scar tissue and resulting hernia. I will only be in the hospital for a couple of days for that. Until then, and after, I will be eating nice, soft food. Jello and Jello Pudding will be my friends.
So for now, all is well and I can do whatever I want except for the diet. Betty and I were hoping to do a last minute getaway next week and I was ready to book last Thursday but didn't feel well enough. Glad I didn't put the call in and book the cruise.
I hope everyone is having a lot better time and things are going well. Winter is making a return today and tomorrow and we are expecting around 5+ inches of new snow to fall today and tomorrow.
Enjoy this wonderful Tuesday and the rest of the week.

Mike, glad to see you're home and enjoying your Jello...what an ordeal. What you had was similar to what happened to Emma when she was 11 months old, spontaneous twisted bowel, and she had 2 ft of it removed. Please rest and ready yourself for surgery. Enjoy your Jello diet, god knows, I hate the stuff!
Mike, I wish you a speedy recovery from your ordeal. Stay on your diet so that your surgery will go well.
We are having a sunny afternoon after having rain for about 36 hours.
