Default No Cruisemates Cruises?

I have been on four Cruisemates cruises and on at least three others with people that I have met on Cruisemates. All of them were wonderful. With so few people including myself regularly posting on this board, I wonder if we will ever have one of those long Cruisemates cruises again? It is kind of a sad thought.

We were discussing this earlier; CM Group Cruise?

Just tough to find someone who wants to be the group leader or to decide exactly where, when, and with whom to sail. I would be the group leader myself, but we're in the process of putting our house on the market - hopefully next week - and as soon as we sell it, then we have to move and find a place to rent for about 8 months or so while our new house is being built. While we're in our rental house, we hope to do an extra long cruise someplace exotic, but will have to wait and see what's offered.

As I said in my earlier post, I always tell my group leaders not to give any choices because you'll get as many requests as there are people interested in going. And no matter which one you choose, you'll not satisfy everyone.

Best thing to do is just pick a cruise and then let everyone know what it is and when it is, then they can either decide to go or not.

Let me know what I can do to help.

Pete

Picking a random date/location and saying come if you want doesn't seem like it would be that effective. Make a poll for location of cruise(most votes wins), then a second for which date(like 4 options) would find out what is best for the most people.

I have been fortunate to have hosted several Cruisemate cruises,and I've loved every one,and we've had a ball putting faces to names. It's nce to have a group to be able to join in when you want to, and on your own as well..having connections while cruising, is a good thing!

Since the structure of group cruises has changed over time,and we cannot hold on to cabins as long as we used to, it's just been harder.

I have some group pictures, if I can find them, I'll post..our groups were big enough to fill the atrium staircase with CM'ers..

If we pick a cruise everyone can book on their own with whatever discount they get; diamond, regional, emt, past cruiser etc. Then if it gets big enough we can always call before final payment date and see if they would give a discount worth it for a "group rate". On some lines though making a group means everyone has to have the same drink package which might turn some folks off. Also it would require everyone to have the same seating instead of half early half late(we couldn't all sit at one table anyway)

I have lots of time on my hands and would be willing to help organize if there is interest.

Not necessarily true anymore - things have changed. We have groups where not everyone purchases the drink packages and we have groups where everyone is doing their own thing for dinner; some early, some late, and some anytime.

Celebrity is one of the better cruise lines to work with for groups, so if everyone is thinking about Celebrity, I agree that would be a good choice.

I would love to do another CM group cruise, and meet more of my online friends....but finances aren't what they used to be, I think it will be a very long time before we cruise again...

The CM group cruises are some of the best I've had the pleasure to join...It is true, it is much harder these days to book groups, the cruiselines just don't allow an agent to hold on to them, usually 30 days and that is it...Sometimes, it just doesn't allow cruisers to book them....

I do hope in the future, we can get another good one going, well worth it.

What if its planned way in advance giving everyone time to save money or scheduling time off or whatever. Make it for fall 2015 or something like that, gives plenty of time to plan.

If a cruise is decided upon, the agent can just book everyone into individual reservations. Then when enough people are booked and the group is ready, the agent can then create the group and move those already booked into the group. Anyone booking after that time can then just be booked directly into the group, provided group space is still available. And if it's not, they can still book at the going rate, but just won't get any of the group amenities.

However, as I mentioned earlier, Celebrity is a good one to work with for groups because they provide us with a 4-month hold on the group space before a deposit is required. Makes life alot easier when soliciting perspective cruisers as opposed to already having a group of people. Plus, they require a $500 per stateroom deposit and people willing to put that much money down are always more serious about going on the cruise than those looking to put much less down.

If I were to make a choice, I would definitely take a serious look at the Celebrity Equinox on November 30, 2015 doing an 11-night cruise to the Western Caribbean. Right now, they're showing inside cabins at $924, Oceanview at $1124, and balcony at $1199 per person plus tax. Plus, they're offering 8 GAP points that can be used for $100 onboard credit per stateroom or to provide $100 off the fare per stateroom. When you look at the 'per night' rate, that's a pretty good deal.

Just a thought.

Your choice would be 18months away

I came across an interesting one yesterday Carnival Miracle Sept 18 '14.
16 days Vancouver to LA via Hawaii(with 6 days on the islands).

Inside $1499
Outside $1599
Balcony $1719
^great rates and that's normal price before any discounts or OBC offers.

I understand that.

I'm OK with 10 or possibly 11 days. Beyond that it would be too much for me.

Since I no longer drive anything further from here than Tampa or even Port Canaveral is out for me. The one CM cruise I did was one of the best cruises ever. I was able to meet many wonderful CM members. I would love to go again but finances are tight lately. Let's see what comes along. I never give up hope.

Well, if you want to do a 7-night cruise, then there are several to consider - here are a few to give you some ideas:

If you want nice you could always look at the Celebrity Reflection on Dec 5, 2015;

Inside $649pp + tax
Oceanview $749
Balcony $824
Concierge $999
Aqua $1099

6 GAP points = $75 onboard credit per stateroom or $75 off the cruise price per stateroom

If you want cheap, you could look at the Carnival Glory on Dec 5, 2015;

Inside $389pp +tax
Oceanview $479
Balcony $649

4 GAP points = $75 onboard credit per stateroom

Or if you want something with a little more activities and a bigger ship, you can look at the RCCL Independence of the Seas on Oct 18, 2015;

Inside $419pp + tax
Oceanview $539
Balcony $749

8 GAP Points = $100 onboard credit per stateroom

And lastly, if you want something new & exciting, you can look at the NCL Escape (due out in 2015) on Dec 5, 2015;

Inside $599pp + tax
Oceanview $699
Balcony $849

$50 onboard credit per stateroom

Unfortunately, Princess and Holland America have not yet released their Fall 2015 prices yet.

All prices on any of these cruises are subject to change and could even be lower depending on the passenger's status (past guest, senior, resident, military).

Pete if you want to start planning a December '15 trip go ahead, but that needs to be a reunion trip for one this year :P

6months should be good enough so Sept./Oct time frame 2014. November/December both have major holidays which might make people skip coming.

Celebrity puts me out of the game altogether. $500 down is more than I can afford. Heck $500 is not far from what I pay for the whole cruise. Would love to go but that deposit puts me out of the game right from the start. Then of course there is the single supplement for me. I guess I am out.

If we go celebrity it was just a suggestion

I would need a roommate if you don't mind sharing so no supplement, and have a future cruise deposit paid already so neither is an issue. I'm a problem solver lol.

Well, if you want to consider a 7-night cruise, here are some options you might want to look at:

If you want cheap, MSC Divina 12/13/14;
Inside $399pp + tax
Oceanview $419
Balcony $599

Or another cheap option, Carnival Splendor 11/30/14;
Inside $389pp + tax
Oceanview $479
Balcony $649

If you want nice, Celebrity Silhouette 11/30/14;
Inside $619pp + tax
Balcony $899

How about the Ruby Princess 12/6/14;
Inside $620pp + tax
Oceanview $800
Balcony $1010

Or for new, there's the NCL Getaway;
Inside $599
Oceanview $699
Balcony $799

Holland America is also a possibility for just a bit more than Celebrity at around $699 for an inside cabin.

Of course all of this is based on the exact ship, sail date, and itinerary, plus availability and prices at time the group is booked. And some of these rates are for 'guarantee' cabins, so cabin assignment may be higher. But it does give you a general idea of rates.

There are like four interested posters in this thread, most of which are single.... good luck finding consensus and forming a "group". Kudos for the attempt, though.

^Who invited Debbie Downer?

The single people are interested first because we can make our own decisions.

If the wife posts here she has to discuss it with the hubby.
If the hubby posts here he can't make decisions anyway and has to convince wife it was her idea.
