Morning mates, although I am wishing you a Happy Easter today, it is not a very happy one here.
I spent 10 hours sitting in the Halifax airport yesterday trying to get on a standby flight to Montreal to go home and see my family for Easter and to adopt a puppy from a rescue. I never got out, came home late, tired, and disappointed. I have been trying to adopt a dog for almost a year now and seem thwarted at every turn and it is very frustrating.
So today finds us with no dog, no family, and no plans for Easter dinner. I guess I should be thankful that we are together and that we have Griffin and Lucy....
Bright and chilly out there, but, temps will rise late, and the hopes of some yard work, loom great. We are getting new railings on the front stairs, and they need to be painted before it's installed.
No cooking for me today... decided I was sitting this holiday out. I hope those Cruisemates who celebrate, have a joyous day!
Donna, things will turn around soon.... you will get to see your family, and, get your dog....this I know
Make it a good one.
Trip, with her book & tea!

It's a beautiful Easter morning. Sunshine and a forecast high of 71. Nice. We had rain last night so "de-thatching" the lawn isn't going to happen. I guess we'll see how the lawn fares. Maybe the winter kill will give it extra fertilizer or just suffocate it. BTW: Last night was one of my "Sure signs of Spring". I went outside around midnight and to my pleasure I hear the croaking of frogs from the marsh. The frost is out of the ground and the frogs are back. Yippeee
Yesterday was a wonderful "Easter" day with the kids and grandkids. We grilled and had a great dinner and a nice day. One little girl ended up with a tummy ache at bedtime from eating too much Easter candy. Some ginger took care of that.
Today is the start of the liquid diet before and after surgery. I go in at 7 tomorrow and hopefully will be home in a couple of days. After that it's two weeks of liquid diet and no lifting for six weeks. Oh well, I have my Sherpa Betty to do the heavy lifting for me.
Donna: Sorry you couldn't make stand-by. Easter weekend is a pretty heavy travel time so I hope you were prepared not to go. Like you stated: You have James and furry kids to have Easter with.
I hope all of you have a wonderful Easter and I'll check back in a few days.

Happy Easter to all Cruisemates. Have a wonderful and happy day with your beloved families. For me it is just another day alone, the same as any other day except not even any mail to look forward to.
Donna, I am so sorry for your disappointment. I wish there were something I could do to make it better for you.
“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.“
For it's a typical Easter Sunday. We went to Church early and we are having friends over for dinner.
Donna, I understand you disappointment and hopefully a nice puppy will come along.
Mike, I wish you a speedy recovery.
