Hi Jared, we are sailing on the Atlantica 02/25/01. It is our first trip on Costa.
Just wondering if you would give a overall review of the cruise. We have a stern balconey stateroom Cat. 11 reserved. Thanks so much. John F
Leaving on the Atlantica Jan 7. Have read some bad reviews of the ship but we have cruised with Costa before and always had a great time. The main problems we have been reading about had to do mostly with food and service. How did these item measure up in your opinioon? Thanks.
We sailed on her on November 26th... and have had several large groups on during December, with great results. The ship is gorgeous, service and food is fine. You should have a great cruise if you go on board intending to.
Thanks Ernie...that is what I thought. I have found life is pretty much what you make of it..and a cruise is no exception. I am expecting a great time in our first ever "balcony" cabin. Thanks for the encouragement!
We will be on the Atlantica on 2/25/01. I have heard this is an informal ship. I was wondering if my hubby should bring his tux, or is that unnecessary?
On the 12/10 sailing there were 2 formal nights and the rest were casual. No informal (semi-formal). The food was better than I expected, tho I felt the dining room waiters were over-worked, so service suffered. Late seating was scheduled for 8:45 each night, but they rarely opened up before 9:00. It was our first cruise with Costa and overall, we were delighted.
.
Will be on the ship January 7 and taking a dark suit..no tux..have sailed with Costa several times before on other ships and most men stick to the dark suit..a few tuxs but not many.
The number of men who wear tux's on formal nights varies from sailing to sailing. On our November 26th sailing on the Atlantica there were lots and lots of men so dressed, including me (for the first formal night, anyway). You have one... I'd bring it... at least for the first formal.
The ship is just terrific. You're in for a great cruise.
On the 12-24 sailing, there were 3 formal nights and the rest casual. Many men wore tuxedos. I was a little annoyed as I expected 2 formal, 2 semi-formal, 2 casual and toga night as the brochure with tickets stated. I brought clothes for these nights. Late seating was at 9:15pm every night. On toga night about 95% wore togas and it was alot of fun. We had a wonderful cruise. The service by waiter was terrific but assistant waiter was terrible-never smiled and seem annoyed if you ordered ice tea or anything that he didn't want to get. Maybe we were just unlucky with getting him.
could you please tell me how the rooms were on this ship and if there is any difference in having a suite to a room with a balcony.thanks...also do they have items on board to wear with your toga or do you have to bring things from home.
sailing on the 25th Mar. back to backs, when should I expect my documents? have cruised with Costa before, Carib. and Med. but can`t for the life of me remember!! also,do they send info on shore excursions w/docs? a question for Ernie, as we are doing BtoB`s will we be allowed to stay in the cabin during debarkation on will we have to get off in FLL? thanx for any info jean
P.S. Expect your docs 2/3 weeks prior to sailing date. Listing of shore excursions is included, but not pricing. You get that on the ship. Take a good look at the full day tour from the ship at Catalina Island to the capital city of the Dominican Republic... Santo Domingo. It is an historic city and great tour, including a superb luncheon at a luxurious hotel in the city. Great tour, if the beach/private island experience is not your cup of tea!
Hi: we are planning a mediterranean cruise on the Atlantica (7 days) from Genoa, what can you tell me about the food? everything seems o.k., but read not a very good review about food, any comments.
The results we are getting from literally hundreds of passengers on the Atlantica here in the Caribbean have been excellent. Food, service, entertainment, etc. have been top notch.
Word of caution......unless you speak Italian, English will be the fifth language that you here for announcements while in the Med.... Italian,German,French, Spanish, all come before English. Not many Americans on board in the Med, also service staff seems shorthanded(not great service in dining room)...Foood is O.K., but nothing special.......
