Default 1st Timer - Help w/ports & stateroom ???

We're cruising the Western Carribean in March, any suggestions for port excursions? Is booking on-line ahead of time really that much more efficient? We like beaches, snorkeling and pubs.

Also, we're on the Amarcord deck towards the back of the boat - I heard that outside/mechanical noises can be heard in some of the cabins???

Which ship and sailing? We are on the Atlantica 3/16 and did have a suite on that deck towards the rear, but got upgraded to a panoramic suite in the middle on the same deck. My doc package has the shore excersions, and on Costa's web site you can also look them up. As for shore excersions, we did the western caribbean about 10 years ago on Carnival, and the only excersion that we want to repeat is Stingray City. We are not sure if we will go with the sundancer (the one we went on last time), Captain Marvin's, or Captain Bryan's. Plan on making that decision this weekend. I found that there is not much info to be had about the Costa cruises compared with the other cruise lines on these boards.

Just got back today from Atlantica (western carib) went with capt. Marvin for stingray city, they were excellent, best excursion of the trip. Seven of us went on a small boat and watched the rest of the people from our cruise squeezed into very large boats- (about 50-60 people on board). We felt like we hired a private boat.
