i am looking into a costa cruise in mid/lat nove which starts at venice and include Bari, Cofu, Malta, Naples and end in Genoa (or close by). I was at first excited but now i am worring as i hvae read many bad reviews about this cruise. Does anyone have any advise from previous cruising? I expecially heard Bari was not worth visiting, that it is not a non-smoker friendly cruise, food is bad and ship is caiotic. Any experience anyone?
I cruised on Costa to the Caribbean and it was my best cruise yet. The food was the best ever (expecially if you like pasta and pizza and other italian dishes). Smoking was not a problem for my cruise...except in the casino (which can be expected on any ship). The ship was a bit chaotic only because it was filled to capacity. Especailly on theme nights with a lot of activites that everyone wanted to attend. The shows on Costa were the best ive ever seen...and unlike any ive seen on any other cruise.

If smoking is an issue for you, then I would not take this cruise unless you are prepared to deal with the smoke. You are booking on a European based cruise line on a Mediterranean itinerary...............the majority of the passengers will be European and they don't have the same restrictive views on smoking as many Americans do.
I cannot comment on Bari as a port - I have never been there.
Costa in the Caribbean is quite a bit different smoking wise than Costa in the rest of the world.
How bad is the smoke situation in the med on Costa? Smoking in dining rooms, for example?

Cgreen,
I KNOW I AM YELLING, BUT JUST WANNA MAKE SURE YOU HEAR ME LOUD AND CLEAR:
GO FOR IT
DO NOT LET THIS WONDERFUL OPPORTUNITY PASS YOU BUY
I HAVE BEEN TO ALL THOSE PORTS - YOU WILL BE AMAZED BY THE CULTURES
DID I SAY "GO FOR IT"????
As for smoking, it ain't any different than Costa in the Caribbean. I have been on those too.
Costa Europe/Med: NO SMOKING IN DINING ROOMS, NO SMOKING IN THEATER/MAIN LOUNGES. Same smoking policy as cruises originating in the US.
GO FOR IT..............Costa is a wonderful cruiseline.
We just had to jump in as we were of the same opinion that any and all ships have area smoking problems. Until of course we sailed with Oceania. Can you imagine a smoke free Casino? Yes indeed. Mind you one can smoke outside on promenade deck but it's easy enough to stay upwind. Bravo Oceania.
