The woman who spoke up for the Captain was a dancer on the ship .
"Miss Cemortan, who works as a translator for Costa cruises, but was traveling on board as a passenger at the time of the disaster, has denied that she and Schettino are lovers. "
All reports I've read say the same thing. She had been a dancer but was currently working as an interpreter. On this voyage she was just getting a ride.
