As I mentioned in my below post, a friend and I both applied at a cruise line. I also saw a post about questions about HIV. My friend is HIV positive ( really, its not me...lol) But, will this be a problem. Do they ask at the medical exam? Can they discriminate? Especially if its NCL "AMERICA." I know that being HIV positive is considered a disability protected under the 1990 or 1992 discrimination act, but will that include jobs at sea?
Re: Another question for past cruise line employees
Most Cruise Lines are very strict when it comes to their required medical examinations. Its simple really. If an applicant / ex-crew has been diagnosed as "MEDICALLY UNFIT", regardless of the nature of his / her being unfit, shall not be allowed to board the ship. If the crew is already onboard but has been diagnosed as "medically unfit", he / she shall be repatriated the soonest time possible. If you think that this practice is discrimatory or the sort, you may want to check out the Maritime Law.
