Default Does crew/staff get a discount for family and friends?

If so, how much?

Ever since I got this job, I've had friends bombarding me with this question. I'm too afraid to ask Carnival though???

yes you do get a discount for bringing guest onboard. There is a certain blockout period such as major holidays where you are restricted from having anyone come up but usually it is not more than 200 US for a guest tocome up for a week. As this is the case with RCI. The only thing is is that unless you are an officer and have a single cabin where your guest can stay with you, they cannot guarantee the person to come onboard up until 2-3 days prior to the cruise to see what their availibility is like. So your guest should have a back up plan just in case or have refundable airline tickets should they need to cancel.
Hope this helped!

It can also depend on the number of years you are with a company. For Princess, you have to be there 6 years before you can do this.

princess sounds like the worst company to work for.

they pay the least out of all the crise liners and they only give friends and family a discount after 6 yrs,

pfft what a crap company.

Hey J,

Just go talk to the chief purser and he will let you know what needs to be done. Why are you scared to talk to someone? All family and friends go through the chief purser with Carnival, so go to the Pursers office and ask when he will be in, so you can speak with him. They are very nice people.

The Purser is the one you need to go through and yes you can get a discount for friends and family. For a 7 day cruise it is usually somewhere around $250-$350 PP depending on the particuliar cruise. The hard part is that you will not know if there is space available until two or three weeks out as they are on a somewhat standyby position. The home office sends out a list of available cruises a month or so out. On popular cruises or during high months it is hard to get onboard but the savings are considerable.
