I am starting the I/S manager position in a couple weeks with carnival, just curious if anyone has any comments on the life that positrion has. Are you extremely busy? Do you get to get off the ship and see the ports alot? Do you get to party? ect. Also a couple things about the uniforms, where the heck do I find white formal shoes? and since I do have to wear a uniform most of the time, honestly how much extra clothes do I really need to bring? Last thing coming from Canada, when I am flying to the states to start the job what do I tell them my reason fro travelling is? I would think that I say work, won't I need a visa or something, and further more won't that mean I have to declare taxes....Is there a lot of theft in the rooms? I am thinking about bringing my collection of CD's if they get stolen I will be pissed......Thanks in advance
Hah! I looked for days for white shoes in Manhattan before I found them.
You might try a tuxedo shop, because a lot of Tuxes are white these days.
Yes, you will see the ports, have time to party, and theft is not bad at all. Just use common sense. However, don't take the job thinking it is all about partying. MOst people are there to work and earn money, and those who party too much get fired. (or to be more accurate, you will probably finish one contract, but you won't get re-hired).
I am the editor, but I also speculate, ask questions and play devil's advocate. I reserve the right to change my mind.
