My boyfriend and I have been thinking about working on a cruise ship for quite a while now and we've just started applying for some jobs. We really want to be working on the same ship though and I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice as to whether we should be applying as a couple or would this not go in our favour? Thanks!
Right - they generally do NOT accomodate couples on the first hiring because they tend to cause more problems than they solve. There are plenty of single people applying for jobs and they are easier to manage logistically. IF you have been with the line for 10 years and they love you they might find a job for your spouse, but otherwise it is very hard to get hired as a couple.
It depends on your job, though. What do you and she do?
I am the editor, but I also speculate, ask questions and play devil's advocate. I reserve the right to change my mind.
Many thanks for writing back to me.
My boyfriend has silver service waiting experience and has been a reasturant manager at the ski resort he worked at last year. I on the other hand have no experience in that field and would be looking to start at the bottom and work my way up. I'm guessing our best bet is to just apply to the same companies and hope for the best?
