Default Am I too young?

I am finishing my matric year and as can be expected, I am busy planning what to do when I'm finished with school. I am interested in working on cruise ships in any position what-so-ever. As an 18-year old, what is my prospects? Can it be done?

I do not know of a reason why it cannot be done, except that you don't have much experience in the work-place so it is hard to guage how hirable you are.

You could try NCL-America, starting in a lower position like crew steward or crew mess. I would think you could move up very quickly as long you keep your head on straight.

Paul,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Do you perhaps have any contact details for NCL?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks again!

I will be 18 next year and have heard there are jobs for this age, but how do we get them??? I've been searching on the interent and they all say you need to but a book in order to get the job!? I don't think this is required for a job, but where do I start?

most cruise lines require you to be at least 21 before they will even talk to you

Just read from *Lisa* that most ships require you to be 21 before they even consider recruitment. But If I have a few casual job experiences even though I am 19, and dont mind working in cabin cleaning or waitressing or anything really, what do you think my chances would be?????

On all the ships that I have worked on you have to be 21, but exeptions can be made.

I've seen it before, my last roomate was only 19, so don't lose hope

Good Luck!!

18 is defintly too young. Have seen 20 y.o. working on board, although you must be 21 if you want to work with alcohol(at the bar). And remember you must have working experience.Speaking about making career- don't count on that :you must know that there are people who are working longer than you on board and they are awaiting for their promotion too, usually everting is already occupied.
