Do the waiters and housekeepers etc on Royal Carribbean and other lines have to put all thier tips into a "pool", which is then divided up? Even the "extra" money we hand to our favorite crew members for a job well done? This dosen't seem right. There has been much discussion on other boards. Passengers want to know the best way to reward individuals for exceptional service. Jimbo
I figure they MUST have to pool them, b/c think of the windjammer employees, no one tips them (I assume) and I'm sure RCI isn't paying them much either. I am still very interested in hearing the answer to this from a RCI employee!

I know on carnival the Bar waitresses keep there own tips and only pool what they sell in soda cards. I'm pretty sure the room stewarts all tip pool as well as some of the cleaners make some good tips. But as for the casino the cashiers and tech's HAVE to tip pool (which sucks please tip more!!! We are not incluided in automatic tipping) and the dealers all tip pool as well.
Hope this helps
This helps a little kali3566. What I'm curious about is the two different types of tipping for the bar waitresses. First the 15% that is added automatically by the cruiseline. I was told by a NCL waiter on board that the 15% is put into a pool that is used for staff incentives. They also said if someone tipped over the added gratuity then they received that. Does this sound right or were they just trolling for bigger tips?
