Crewmembers If you work on a ship or have in the past

Default Can Crew members socialize with guest?

I was woundering if you made friends with a crew member on your cruise could they hang out with you when there not working?

If you see them in port, they may be able to hang out with you but I know most of the cruise lines have rules against the staff fraternizing with guests.

Yep,they do have a day off while in port(don't know about their schedule while at sea)Our cabin steward was shopping at a store were we just happen to be darting in for the air conditioning(HOT!!) outside in St. Thomas.Gave her 30.00 dollars to shop with,and boy oh boy WHAT!!extra service did we get...chocoate covered strawberries,double the towel animals,and the most wonderful smile you can imagine.Very HARD working Great people.

Not all are the cruise staff workers are off the ship at port at the same time though.

Well, lets be more specific - it depends on your job. If you are part of the cruise staff (entertainers, etc) who have free run of the ship then you CAN fraternize with the passengers pretty much whenever you are not working. especially in port.

Crew-people, however, (waiters, room stewards, cooks, kitchen....) do not the same open policy, and they cannot fraternize while abord the ship. If you happen to run into one while in port you may fraternize all you please - they are off duty.
