Gap Pool

Another question for you experienced cruisers!

How long did you have to wait for your ship assignment after being offered a position. My recruiter refers to this as the gap pool and I swear - it's killing me. I want to tell my boss I have this new job so he can prepare a replacement for me, but if it is going to go on for quite a while, I don't want to jump the gun. Please tell me how long you waited - I'm going crazy waiting!

My journey started in the end of November with notice for an interview and I got me ship assigment on February 5th so it can take a bit of time
I leave this Saturday for Miami

Congrats Leah...are your from eastern or western Canada? Did you happen to go through a recruiter for RCI/Celebrity based just outside of Toronto and then meet with the final rep at the Delta in late January? If so, we may have met...you never know! You must be so excited to finally be on your way. What Cruise Line/Ship are you going on?

As for me, I've been assigned to Celebrity in the purser's dept. Now it's just the torturous wait to see when I leave. Any other experiences with the waiting game are welcome - hearing how it went for others makes me even more breathless for my assignment.

I am from Eastern Canada and I went thru Cast-a-way and the was hired thru Starboard. My interview was in Toronto at the Grand hotel.

I just kept emailing them for a ship assignment, and I heard pretty quick.

I am on Royal Caribbean Explorer of the Seas ...
