I got hired by Harding Brothers more than six months ago, and I still haven't heard from them at all about what ship I'm going to work on and when I'm leaving. So I was wondering if it is possible that they have forgotten all about me? Should I contact them or just keep waiting?
I will defer to anyone who has worked for Harding Brothers before. But, in my experience, it is the persistent candidate that gets the job.
I don't think there is anything wrong with writing or calling your contact at the company to see where they are in their process and if they have an update on a timeline for you. Let them know of your sincere interest in working for them and ask if there is anything else you can be doing to help move the process forward.
I agree you need to email like once a week to check in to see if a assignment has come up for you !!! Don't feel bad either, because your resume could be on the bottom of the pile and until they get to you they just pick from the top.
