Default Just got hired: What's Casino work like on ncl?

I just got hired as a casino dealer on ncl and was wondering what life was like on the ship and whether the norwegian jewel is a good vessel. Also, I was wondering what kind of hours the casinos run, like on sea days when do they open and close as opposed to port days? Also, do the casinos do a standard hour on with twenty minutes off like most casinos in the us? Basically is it a good time, I don't mind doing the work, but I've read some posts and websites that talk about how the crew works incredibly long hours on the ship and was wondering how exaggerated this is.

Sorry, I have no 1st hand info, since I have yet to work onboard, but I did 'speak' once to someone who said they worked on the jewel and would def. go back! They also said that the casino, on sea days, opened in the morning for slots, but, if I'm not mistaken, the tables didn't open til later in the day. (and not until an hour after sailing on port days and such). and closing was at not set time, basically based on the crowd. Hope this lil bit helps!

If you don't mind, may I ask a couple questions? How did you get hired-did you just apply via email? How long b4 you received a response? And placement on a ship? I'm asking b/c I was interested in a casino position too (not a dealer).

I will def. be watching your post for info, b/c I'm interested in any casino and/or NCL info.

Thanks and GoodLuck!!!

I basically just applied on the ncl website and then they emailed me back, but it did take a while. I think I put in for a job back at the end of april and the first time i got a reply it was about three weeks later. I honestly think that my experience had a lot to do with getting hired as quick as i did, because i've heard people have a hard time getting hired, I've got four years dealing experience with a major casino brand and I think that helped a lot. After they emailed me back I was asked to do a webcam interview and then last week I got an official offer contingent on my medical examination which I'm not worried about. Any other questions let me know.
