My wife and I will soon be joining the NCLA crew and was wondering if anyone has had any experience with using cell phones and/or wireless internet cards through your cell provider in the crew areas while onboard. I would imagine guests can get service, but I wasnt sure of crew if your in the center of a huge ship right at the bottom with tons of metal surrounding you
Laptop wireless access will be accesible in crew areas - as will your cell phones... You will see a lot of crew using their laptops in the crew mess/bar areas.
Crew quarters are normally at or below the waterline, so you will not have service on either your cell or laptop. If in case you have an ethernet cable (or purchase one), you can access the net in your cabin (Internet crew cards are $20 and generally last about two to three hours).
From my experience on both the Hawai'i and America, you will get great reception from most ports, the exception was normally Kauai. I have ATT cell coverage, and Verizon wireless - very happy with both when I was in the islands.
If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!
