Princess Crew Question
I have been corresponding with a gal I met aboard a princess ship 6 months ago. She has asked me to come sail with her again. She said she has worked for Princess for 8 years. Someone mentioned they are allowed 2 free cruises a year. Are these reserved for her immediate family only or can she use them for a friend? Also, if she knows when I will be there can she get permission to visit me in my cabin? Or for us to spend some time together?
I have a feeling she is not being honest with me. She told me no free cruises or discounts for friends only blood family. She also said she is never allowed to be seen with passengers and she is not allowed to ask permission for it. Seems strange she would rather sneak around.
I feel like she is yanking my chain.
Is there anyone out there who can shed some light on this for me?

I have just arrived home from a Princess cruise, during which I had a fling with a member of the the staff. At least it was a fling for me...he wanted me to commit to forever.
This is what I was told:
He asked for permission from his superior for me to share his cabin, and was told that if I were to depart and return I would be considered an "official" girlfriend.
He received a "staff rate" that would be transferred to me.
A few days later he told me that he had booked a trip for me that he would pay for (which tells me it must have been free for him) and that I had only to pick the week.
He also told me that on my return we would have plenty of time to spend both on and off board, and that there would be no need for secrecy.
I, of course, believe not a word of the above, but I hope this helps in getting the story straight.
Note: he was an officer. This may account for any decrepencies in their stories.

It completely depends on their job onboard. Cruise STAFF and officers get visitor privileges that CREWMEMBERS do not get. It is very imprtant to understand the difference.

If your gal is a bartender, waitress, spa worker or shop-worker she probably does NOT have any special rates for you and you cannot stay in her cabin. It is different for staff and officers.

However - keep in mind they don't just tell them "heck, anyone you want to bring onboard anytime." They limit their chances to a one or two every year. And whther it is free or s discount. once again, depends on their jobs, and where they live.

An officer living alone on the bridge deck can have a guest, but a crewmember sharing a cabin on crew deck cannot. But she probably CAN arrange a discount for you, but you would have to say you are family or engaged, or whatever.

If she is just saying "come and see me" but she wants you to pay full fare, she may or may not be serious, it is hard to say. She may be lonely or maybe just trying to be "nice," never expecting you to really do it.

It is up to you to determine her intent, we can't help you there.

from what i have been told it is true that you must be immediate family or engaged or married. they don't usually allow just a boyfriend or girlfriend

I was an officer onboard (Ents). After completing two 6 months contracts I was allowed to have immediate family (Wife, Children, Parents or Siblings) onboard for a few cruises a year. No one else. They were not guaranteed a passengers cabin (infact I have had my brother sleep on my cabin floor before!). Staff (Casino, Spa, Shops) get this privalege when they achieve management level. Crew (Waiters, Bartenders, Room Attendents) do not have this benefit.
This was correct when I was onbaord; 97-02. Hope this helps.......
