lifestyle of casino staff

Hi. I'm just wondering what is the lifestyle of the casino staff on cruiseships. What I mean by that is, some cruise ships only have casinos open for 5-6 hours (so my friend tells me). If it's only open that long what do you do the rest of the day? is this a part time position then?
I'm currently working as a blackjack dealer and looking for a position on a cruise ship in the summer. That's why I'm interested.
