Independence of the Seas

Hi, I just wanted to let you all know that I will join Royal Caribbean's Independence of the Seas in Lisbon, the 19th April, working as a Guest Services Officer. If anyone else is onboard this ship, please let me know! This will be my first ship and my first contract and I am really excited!

Congratulations! I am sure you will really enjoy ship life and will probably stay on ships for many years.

Are there many Swedish people on ships? I have worked with and met many Norwegians, but not many Swedes.

No offense, but I know there is some competitive spirit between the two nations, and so it was a little unusual for them to hire Swedes.

Obviously, many cruise lines have Norwegian lineage - and yes, there is a difference! NCL, Royal Caribbean, Royal Viking, etc...

Thank you Paul! Well, I think you are right, there a significantly more Norwegians crusing the oceans than Swedes. And yes, we have a very competitive spirit towards each other but I think that it only streches to a joking/socializing limit (at least in my case).

I do hope that I will find the cruise ship life satisfactory and fun most of all!! My father has been working on ships for like 25 years on Royal Viking, Seabourn, RSSC and Silversea so he has given me a few pointers as well!
