Has anybody heard of somebody being hired for a first contract with RCCL as Guest Services Manager? Just wondering if this ever happens because as far as I'm aware its a senior position (3 stripes) and it would probably mean some intensive training to bring that person up to scratch on standards and policies if they've never worked for RCCL before.
But I have seen other 3 stripe positions as new hires, i.e., Executive Housekeepers, Associate Hotel Directors, F&B Managers, HR and T&D managers, Bar Managers, Cruise Directors . . . so it's not totally improbable - but . . the candidate would have to have one SERIOUS equivalent background to get up to speed on the demands of the position.
The position right below is the Front Desk Manager, so I'm willing to bet if someone was qualified, they'd start as that first.
Pretty sure Facebook has a RCI "pursers" group where you might be able to ask this question
Thanks for your reply. I started the interview process a couple of weeks ago with RCCL for a position as either FDM or GSM. Everybody I had spoken to said pretty much what you said.....more chance of getting hired as FDM than GSM. Funnily enough I just got off the phone with RCCL and they have offered me the GSM position!
