Default Applied for DCL

Okay, so its a land based position that stays with in the main Disney Corporation (Which is important for a lot of my pre-existing benefits) ... but I applied for a Concierge Specialist position with DCL. Basically its a guest service position working directly with guests or their TAs for setting up all aspects that come with staying on Concierge level. Considering I do Concierge now at one of the resorts and also a lot of phone work with TAs ... I'm kind of excited *if* I get the interview. Still have to have my resume looked at of course, but its strong in what the position requires.

Good luck in getting the job.

My grandson is set to leave on the 25th for Hawaii to work on the NCL Pride of America as an assistant cook.

Thanks. Thankfully I won't have to move if I were to get this job. Just change where in the area I work (And start wearing "civilian" clothing to work instead of a "costume") Which would be a nice change of pace. And I'm sure there will be lots of "product knowledge" Disney is big on making sure their castmembers know the product they are offering.

I don't want to rain on your parade, but - -
You should try to speak to as many ex-DCL employees as possible before you make any decisions.
I have never worked for DCL, and have never set foot on a DCL ship.
I really know very little about them. But I do have many ex-DCL colleagues who tell me many interesting stories about working there.
The words "Mousewitz" and "Mousetrap" are often used.

Well, I already work for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts, so I think I'm pretty educated about what comes with working for Disney. And this is position within Disney Corporate, not the ship based contractor. Beyond that, hey, thanks for tossing out random insults to my employer in general.

Good luck.

HawkeyeFLA, my grandson applied to NCL knowing that it would be on the Pride of America and that he would be going to Hawaii. It was not until they notified him that he was the first on the active hold list that he started to get excited and that hold was only for one weekend. He will be gone for 5 months and hopefully he will be offered a new contract to go back after one month.

And if this position if one that you want I do hope you get it.

I've had 2 different friends work for NCLA. Both loved it. My most recent friend did it last year as a junior server, my other friend did it back in like 2006 or so. So best wishes for him. I am sure he will have a great time.

Of course I'm single and have considered applying for ship work in the past, but where I am with Disney now, I've got a lot of good going on, so I don't want to give that up.

Dawned on me that I never posted any follow up. Never got a call to interview, so I guess my resume didn't impress enough. But never to be daunted, there is another position opening up that supports DCL from our corporate offices here in FL that I do stand a better chance at. Considering I have a buddy that has done it for a couple years now, and one of my current managers knows 2 managers over there, so she's trying to get me a meet and greet before the application cut off. So we shall see.
