Should I take the job?

Hi All, I have a decision to make, ignoring the low pay of $1.70 per hour omg, if I take a retail shop assistant role is it possible to work towards the role I really want? I want to work towards port shopping presenter role but need some ship experience first, how hard is it to do this? Is it even possible? I guess I would be committed to the assistant role for at least the 6mth contract ha? Thanks so much for any help. Snaz
