I'm waiting to take my pre employment medical exam for CCL & I just had a few questions. What are ALL the tests that will be done? What would make you fail the medical or make the company deem you "unfit for duty" and do you know the results of your medical before being approved/denied by carnival? Basically, will you have an idea if you failed the medical before the company officially tells you?
You'll know during the exam if you've passed/failed most of it - other than what they have to send off (drug test usually).
Basically failure is anything that is 'outstanding' - i.e. infections, virus, broken bones, etc. If you have meds to cover an existing long term condition (like blood pressure) - it's ok. You can't be contagious and have to physically be able to do your job. The joke used to be "Can you see the wall? Can you touch your toes?" and you'd be in. Now the lines are concerned that your vaccinations are up to date (MMR, chicken pox), no STD's. etc.
Just do a search in this forum for 'medical' or 'medical exam' and there are a LOT of threads.
The doctor won't 'sign off' on the forms if you don't meet the requirements. Just like anytime else you go to a doctor and they find something. For instance - you have an infection and they'll prescribe antibotics . . come back when done and then the doctor OK's and signs the form.
Hello ,I have been playing on cruise ships for about 5 yrs now,I decided to try Carnival since I had been with HAL for awhile ,took my peme and was told I was on hold until I lost weight at re took my hb1ac,I lost 30 lbs and got a new test the results was 6.4 ,what are the odds of me being approved? Ive already been offered a contract etc...
I was looking into possibly applying for a position with carnival but am currently on blood thinners as a result of pulmonary embolism a few months ago. I have not had any complications since. Other than that medication I have no other health concerns. Does anyone know if being on blood thinners will stop me from being able to pass the exam?
