Hi guys!
![]() I was just wondering how long did you wait for your letter of employment (contract/ a pigeon with good news on being hired and the date of your embarkation)? In my case it's been almost 6 month since the interview, and all of the documents and visa were done even before that. So, the question is if it is "okay" to wait this long? Am I getting the job eventually? share your experiences, please P.S. How much do you normally make per month and how much time off do you get when at port? Thank you all in advance. Cheers ![]() ![]() |

hi, RCCL (and all others) what it does is to create a talent pool and on the first position available they take people from there. There are a lot of factors. avaliability, que list, etc
so there is no time. it can be 3 weeks or 8 months. usualy after a year they re confirm your interest in the possition. |

It's worth touching base with your hiring partner or whoever you dealt with at RCI to remind them you're still around. Don't be afraid to give them a nudge.

The cruise lines keep a good amount of candidates on stand-by.
It cost them nothing, and insures smooth operations onboard. If someone decide not to wait anymore, cruise line company profits by weeding out an impatient potential crew-member, likely to resign or interrupt his long contract anyway. Here's a poll saying how long people wait for embarkation after passing the job interview: ![]()

well, thank you all guys for your replies
![]() ![]() Today I got an e-mail with my LOE and I'm embarking on Jan 18th ![]() So, I guess, I'm one of those who have to wait for a year to get a job.. But guys at my agency told me it's possible to get onboard sooner, if anybody signs off or something... anyways, we'll see.. but I'm glad that at least now I know exactly what to expect, when and where ![]() By the way, how's "Majesty" in comparison to the other ships of the fleet? I'd appreciate any info on that. Thanks! |

Majesty nice. "Small" ship (Mega Class), friendly people and now gets the high speed internet. It was about to transfer to Azamara but Royal changed its mind.
Ittinerary is boring. 3 & 4 Day cruises, Cococay, Nassau, Key west. Only Key West something to do... so basicaly time will fly... January? and get LOE from now? |

Yep, I was surprised too.. seems I don't follow the logic of the whole process anymore.. hopefully, I can save more money this time, since the itinerary is not much of vegas-like ![]() sz you made my day with those words ![]() Guys, how aboout the living conditions on board Majesty? I mean cabins, laundries and stuff... how is it different from the other ships? and one more... is it much more difficult to work on a bigger ship than on a small one? tnx cheers |

there are some major changes running royal at this time regarding many things.
exempt the size and the amount of crew there is no difference from big to small ships. cabin are all the same in your case, laundries, back deck, "recreation areas" are all the same. the differences are not the size of the ship is the management that runs it. If management dont care for crew welfare or if HR Specialist dont know how, time on board sucks. There is a ship (not MJ so dont worry) that management and HR changed things that had as a result that the crew didn't have the mood to spent socializing. When management changed mood changed also. so it all comes to people. Working on Allure or on Majesty the only difference is the more time you need to go from one side to the other and the amount of crew on board. If people sucks, then ....you will count the time for your contract to end.... Royal used to have the best result of crew welfare. They were trying to get the best and the crew stayed more because of this. things have changed the last few years, i believe because the have left the ship managements to handle those matters. |
