How do the cruise lines feel about carrying the odd bottle of alcohol on board?

Depends on the cruise line....Princess' printed cruise information says a bottle of wine or champagne is fine.
I think they just don't want you to bring a keg of beer or your own distillery or something.

In their cruise ticket contract, Royal Caribbean prohibits carrying on alcohol without paying a corkage fee.

There are many people who bring their own liquor onboard....Normally they "Don't" check your luggage for it.....
