We want to take our parents on a cruise next January. Four different families will be going, ages 2 to 75. We have narrowed it to NCL Dream or Carnival Elation out of Texas. NCL has more (better?) stops, Carnival has a better dining plan for us to all eat together. Any opinions on which cruise would be best? Thanks.
Sailed both Carnival and NCL. Both ships are about the same age/condition. Carnival has larger, nicer cabins. both have good kids programs, with Carnival a bit better organized. In general, I found the dinner menus better on Carnival as I like shellfish and steak. However, the breakfast menu on Carnival is the same every day. NCL has a rotating menu in the dine room. The buffet on the Dream is very small and generally crowded, but they do do sushi most eves at about 5 pm. The deck BBQ on the Dream on sea days is WONDERFUL. Dine room lunches are about equal.
I would probably go with the better itinerary and/or price. In fact, I am looking at the Dream for March and Carnival for 06.
