Tried these foods from Great Britian, what do you think of them? would you recommend them? can I buy them?

I've had all of them except the Birmingham Balti. I have no idea what that is.

I spent last fall about five miles from Melton Mowbray. I am not a big pork pie fan. To me they are under seasoned, as many traditional English dishes are, and are reminiscent of Spam in a crust.

I do like a good black pudding. It is a blood sausage and something that is going out of favor in England. Fewer butchers and shops are stocking it. That's a shame.

Most of the British eel is jellied and not really my cup of tea and though I've only had it a couple of times it isn't anything I'd go out of my way to order.

I'll take a good bit of Spotted Dick for my pudding after a good meal.

Take care,
Mike

The Balti is a style of curry, Balti houses & styles of curry are available all over Britain, so I believe that Birmingham part comes into it as the creative home of that curry.
Although tomato based, they usually come as either a Lamb or Chicken dish and as they are not to 'hot' you get to taste all the various spices that are in the dish.

Would I reccomend - oh yes, definitely :o)

Thank you for the info. I was on one cruise and they served the pudding in the English Pup. It was good. I would love to taste test the British eel. Possibly, I will be able to try these English dishes on future trips to Great Britian.

Serving black pudding in an "English Pup" is going a bit overboard.

Take care,
Mike
