Great Solo Rates on Carnival

Carnival just announced it is doing away with the 200% single supplement on many of its cruises departing between now and May 2014. Instead, they are only charging 100%, so this is a great opportunity for singles!

Hello! I am a 60 year old active retired school teacher. I am a non-smoker, casual drinker and just love crusing. I am presently in New Zeland and would love an opportunity to cruise the south pacific, fiji etc. Any way someone can email me so I can book a cruise>?

Carnival is definitely not offering anything special for singles on any of the very few cruises they have in the area.

Really depends on where you want to go, how long, and with what cruise line. But I'm not seeing any specials for singles on any of the places you mentioned.

Carnival Imagination June 1, 2014 from Long Beach, California

Just booked a great deal on Carnival Imagination June 1-June 5, 2014 R/T from Long Beach, CA. Only $199. plus taxes and fees $271.12! This is for a cabin to myself, NO single supplement!
Any other solo travelers on this cruise? Would really like to find someone to play billiards with in Ensenada. When I was there on a cruise a couple years ago I found a great place to play pool that also had cheap cold bottled beer!
If you haven't booked yet, maybe you should! I am not looking for a hook-up, just hoping to find other solo travelers on this cruise.

I heard the Ensenada port sucks, basically there is nothing there so you have to get excursions most of which are a long bus ride.

What kind of activities/sites are there worth checking out?

Hi aerospace,

I have been to Ensenada twice on a cruise, and I actually enjoyed it both times. I guess it is what you make it. I don't usually go on the overpriced excursions offered by the cruise line. I hear the zipline Las Canadas canopy tour is great, but have not done it and don't plan to this trip either. I just walk from the cruise port into town. Vendor's will try to sell you their stuff along the way, but I just say, "No Garcias" and keep walking. I read there is a friendly fun place called Tequila's Sport's Bar and Grill not far from the cruise port. I like to play pool, so I try to find a pool hall. I don't know addresses but I remember there were at least 3 not far from the port.

I'm glad you found happiness in Ensenada, I was never so depressed in my life in any port other than Falmoth. This place really reflected the poverty that exists in Mexico. I know what you mean by saying the people try to sell you things like little figurines made of twisted pieces of wire and I have to say I admire them for trying to make a living. I also now realize why these people will risk life and limb to get to the USA to escape this poverty. In the future, if I am ever on another ship that stops in Ensenada I will not disembark.

Price-wise, this marketing to solo travelers means that while those traveling alone were once priced out of many cruises (by nature of having to pay a 50-100% supplement on a cabin designed for two), some lines are now reducing, or even waiving the supplement — at least on select sailings
