Carnival Cruisewear?

I am in my mid-20s going on my first cruise with Carnival--and am trying to figure out what to pack. I hear that Carnival is a little more casual than other cruiselines, but I am trying to figure out what to wear for dinners and what not to bother packing. I assume cocktail dresses for evenings, but I am looking for whatever tips anyone can give me.

I like to dress up for dinner on the ship. So I dress in what makes me happy. You will see all sorts of different attire in the dining room. We go Carnival also and love there cruise's. On the Special dinner nights we dress up all the way. During the other nights we dress up to, but not as much as the Special nights. During the days it is shorts and tanks or tee's. Swimsuits. Whatever makes you comfortable. Make sure you take comfortable shoes along for the excursions. Have a Great Cruise!!!!! I know you will.............. Charlene

We will be taking number 6 and 7 cruises in August and September. Each time I go I tend to take less clothing. Don't over pack!! Sunday-type dresses, sundresses, or nice slacks are perfect for dinner on all nights except for the formal nights. On the formal nights you will see every type of dress. Dressy church dresses, cocktail dresses or formal wear are all acceptable. My husband and son usually opt for a nice suit on formal nights. On other nights slacks, with nice sport shirts or sometimes a sports coat. When my children were young they would wear whatever you would dress them in for Sunday dress: dresses, slacks and polo-type shirts for the boys. Keep it simple! Have fun!!
