clothes for the Med in July

Only a bit over 2 months till we leave on our HAL cruise of the
Mediterranean. We sail from Barcelona to Venice. I need to seriously think
about what clothes to take. What to wear on ship isn't too much of a concern
beacause we've done it before (two 7-day cruises to the Caribbean) but this
is our first visit to Europe ever. What's best for touring the port cities
in July? We are a middle-aged couple with 14 and 18 year old daughters. Like
most teens, they wear shorts and jeans everywhere, but I'm not sure if
that's appropriate in European cities. (We are aware of restrictions when
visiting cathedrals, etc.). Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. By
the way, anyone on the July 20 sailing of the Rotterdam VI? Thanks, Helen

We did our 1st. European cruise last September and know exactly what you are going through. Even though it may be warm, you want to be dressed respectibly. I suggest cotton outfits; capri pants, jumper with a T, sheath style cotton dress (the teens will look great), a casual resort style outfit that would have a little jacket to match, etc. No mini-skirts, abreviated tops or tank tops. Closed toe shoes for the Vatican are recommended or when doing a lot of walking; aerosoles four-way or fisherman style shoes are great. Just make sure to be comfortable, too. Take a back pack for a water bottle, to put your jacket, camera, souvenirs etc. into.
