Hi,
I'm going on the Inspiration this Sunday (whoopeeee!!). I have been reading a lot of posts, and I hope I won't look stupid on the first formal night. I purchased a lovely long burgandy formal gown for the most formal night, and a cute black cocktail dress for the second formal night. Will I be out of place with the long gown?? From some posts it seems like hardly anyone dresses that formal anymore.
I have never cruised Carnival but your gown sounds beautiful. Sure hope that if you are traveling with a special mate, he wears a tux. You both will look super!
Bon Voyage
Deb,
You'll be perfect, and what's more, looking so good makes you FEEL perfect. When else do we get this chance to dess to the nines? Go for it, and enjoy every moment of formal night (not just formal "dinner)! You'll have a ball.
Jennifer
I'll tell you a little story that you will love ...
My parents (both in their mid-60s) just got back from a 22-day Panama Canal cruise.
My mom (who *loves* to dress up and goes to benefits just so she can buy a new gown) always takes a couple long gowns on their longer cruises. Of course, she also brings along my dad's tuxedo and coordinates his accessories to coordinate with her color gown.
Both of them -- still a fantastic, *good-looking* couple -- went to the show after dinner one night, and the entertainer asked whether anyone was celebrating an anniversary. My dad volunteered that they were celebrating their 40th.
The entertainer then had them stand up in the showroom and said, "Folks, *this* is what a couple celebrating their 40th anniversary *should* look like!"
If it makes you feel great, go for it. Your clothes will look great in the photo shoots of the ship's surroundings.
From my perspective, I just love watching all these great woman dressed up walk by, beats a hiking trail or MacDonalds.
My spouse loves to check out how folks dress up and afetr seeing some of the guy's in tux's is now working on moving me away from my dark suit.
Hi,
You should see my "formal" wear. I have been known to take at least two long gowns and three cocktail dresses for a 10 day cruise. I have never been on a
Princess, or Celebrity cruise where I have felt "out of place" in my long gowns.
Take your beautiful gown and enjoy looking like a Princess!
