Will be cruising on the Monarch over New Years and RCI says that formal night is the 2nd night of cruise.....New Years is the 3rd Night. Won't most people dress up for New Year's too. Don't know if we should pack extra formal clothes?
You would think the cruise lines would be more clear on their dress codes for New Year's Eve. Afterall they've been doing this for awhile, but alas we've been told that the onboard staff make the final decision as to whether to switch formal night for New Year's Eve.
The two times I have cruised over New Year's they switched formal night to New Years eve. I'm assuming that will happen again next month when we get to welcome in a new year at sea once again.
I was also wondering the same thing. I'm going on the Explorer and New Years Eve falls on the 3rd night which I heard is smart casual night. mmm decisions decisions..lol. Kuki which ships were you on when they switched the formal nights?
I was on Carnival for a 4 day New Years cruise two years ago and they did not make fomal night the same as New Years. It was pretty much your choice if you wanted to dress up New Years or not, I saw about 1/2 the people in casual dress and the other seemed to dress up, but then again it probably has to do a lot with the ship you will be sailing on.
