Type of Tuxedo

I will cruising on the Century next month and I would like to buy a tuxedo instead of renting one. What type is the most common on a cruise ship? I like the double breasted look but I don't know if that would look out of place.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thank You:
Jim

Jim, I've only ever seen the standard black jacket and once or twice, a white dinner jacket.

Hope that helps,

Harry

Double or single is OK. Your preference..?? Neither would be "out of place".

Hubby bought a double in April, with 6/1 cruise coming up fast and 8 previous cruises and oldest getting married in Aug and youngest threatening for 2005 we decided it was worth while. He also got a white dinner jacket too. He chose the double breasted because its what looks best on him. It is NOT the currently "most popular" but it comes back constantly.

I don't think the double breasted tux will look out of place. Since my husband's size doesn't change from year to year (unlike mine) he bought the most classic style tuxedo because he will probably wearing it for many years and we didn't want to buy anything that would go out of style.

if a double-breasted looks good on him then go for it. Keep the accessories simple and to a minimum. Simple studs, simple tie, simple shirt - i love the pleated ones, vest if you like, cumberbunds aren't necessary (imho)

Thank you for the responses. I think I will go with a classic notched lapel tuxedo. I think that will remain in style for quite awhile. Lisa, I did like the vest selection and will also go with that. I am not a cumberbund fan.

Thanks Again:
Jim

Jim, i am sure you will look very dauper in whatever you choose. That's the beauty of a tux, classic styling that can be updated with accessories.
