Default Leather

OK, all you fashion police *VBG* Is a black leather suit jacket cut coat with black trousers (not leather) appropiate for formal night??? Hubby tried one on today and boy did he look good but I told him he couldn't wear it formal night. Am I correct? This is a 5 day Sensation trip in Sept. Thank you!

Thanks ladies. I guess there's been so much talk about tuxes and the "things" people try to wear formal night that I thought it "HAD" to be tux or traditional dark suit. Can you tell we're first time cruisers? :-)

pair it with a nice dress shirt, tie and a nice pair of dress shoes and i think that your hubby will look very handsome in that outfit. Hope that the blazer isn't going to be to hot!

MaryAngel,

Not really, if the formal nights really are formal.

Hubby tried one on today and boy did he look good but I told him he couldn't wear it formal night. Am I correct?

Yes, absolutely....

This is a 5 day Sensation trip in Sept.

... but things tend to be less formal on short cruises.

The best advice for attire aboard ship is to follow the guidelines published by the cruise line. You will never go wrong by doing so.

Norm.

I would tend to agree with the "no" answers. I'm sure your husband looks nice in the outfit, but formal night is about formal dress, not dressing nice. Use it for one of the other nights. Now having said that, Carnival and especially shorter cruises tend to be less "formal" on "formal night", and the trend in the industry is toward more casual attire, but if you follow the cruise attire guidelines you can't go wrong.
