Default January Cruise Clothes

I am cruising in January to Cozumel and Calica. What kind of clothes is suggested? Is the water to cool to swim? I do not want to waste room by packing swimsuits, coverups, and all that if I am not going to use it.

Thanks for anyones advise!

Hi Gal,
I would expect it to be plenty warm, so do pack the swim suits and shorts, but also pack a sweater, for just in case. The water should be nice and warm too, enjoy!

Dear Gal

I'm also going in Jan25, my first cruise. I've heard Miami can be as cold as 40 degrees and maybe the Caribbean rainy. I guess it is pot luck. I hope Donna is right on the warm water because I would love to snorkle for the first time. I'm afraid I will over pack because of the drastic change from Col. OH weather to Miami and St. Thomas weather.

Gal, Cozumel in January is nice, sunny and warm, yes, yes bring your swimsuit, coverups, shorts, tanks and t-shirts. Pack sundresses, capri pants, sleeveless sweater shells, dockers type pants w/polo or button down shirts for casual nights. For formal nights pack a nice cocktail dress, dressy pantsuit w/ sparkly or sheer top, tux pants with a sparkly, brocade or sheer top, a long dressy skirt w/ the forementioned tops or a long dress. Pack a lightweight cardigan sweater for evenings and a wrap for your dressy outfits it can get cool in the dining room and out on deck at night. Good walking sneakers and water shoes/water sandals are a must( not flip-flops)

I went to Cozumel in Febuary of this year, and it was hot!! I think it stays pretty much the same temp all the time. We have been in August and it was hot then to. You can check on some of the travel sites on the average temp and rain amounts for that time of the year.

I live in Miami and the weather in January can be from 80 to 50 degrees. It all depends on the cold fronts that come down from the North and usually it's only for a day or two.

When I travel anywhere I check the weather on the internet before I go.

You'll get at least a seven day forecast and can plan accordingly.
