Default Out of the ordinary packing

I know this thread has been done before but I am not sure where it is at....

First time cruiser going on the Carnival Celebration Jan 26th. I am going to 30 while on the cruise! I am so excited.

I was trying to make out my out of the ordinary packing list and so far only have an over the door shoe holder (for toiletries) and a surge protector (for the xtra outlets). Any other suggestions?

Clothes steamer or Downey Wrinkle Releaser. I pack the day before and the clothes are always wrinkled.

If you dry your hair with a blow dryer, you might want to bring your own. The hair dryers are not the best and if you have your own, you can use the mirror in the room and not the bathroom. Might save time when two people are getting ready.

Also a 13-gallon bag for your dirty laundry. I always forget this.

You might want to bring some extra closet hangers, the dual purpose ones are best.

Don't forget tums (too much drink), bromine (in case of sea sickness) aspirin (hangover) band aids (bad shoes) and sunscreen if you are going to the Caribbean.

Happy Cruising and happy big 30.

Pssst....I've discovered a plain old spray bottle (plant sprayer) filled with water works as well as a clothes steamer or commercial wrinkle releaser. You can even take it to the pool deck to cool yourself off.

Ditto on the extra closet hangers. I like to take some with hooks for skirts (and for drying the underwear I've washed out in the sink), but also take along some wire ones from the cleaners--you won't have to take them home.

Take a lighted clock if you'll be in an inside cabin.

My son says: "duct tape."

Then again, he thinks duct tape is just about the most marvelous invention on earth...

We *love* our much used back pack -- great in port, and great for hauling books, magazines and personal CD player to the pool.

To the list, I will now add the ziplock bags, big and small. I usually stick a piece of cheese in there at night and a fruit to eat before weight exercise, early in the morning. My DH likes his coffee when he first gets up, folgers singles, ginger tea bags, a big glass cup to heat water in, the water heating element, (will they let us use it), 2 insulated mugs, clorox wipes, lysol spray or Oust (new stuff that is supposed to be better than lysol) discount coupons for Mr. Santos, sun visor, the balloon for the door, what else, Aloe vera for burns, pepto bismol pills for sure, knee brace, cork screw...big mexican mesh bag for shopping, my down pillow, (seriously I sleep much better with it on trips) and the kitchen sink, might as well throw that in too?
Gonna need at least 2 suitcases and a carry on.

We like to take maps of the ship's route, so we can review it. We bring scotch tape to put it on a wall in the cabin. Also use the tape to put pictures on the outside of our cabin door and we take at least one night light.

We must get the wire hangers that HeySailer leaves behind! :o) The room steward will usually bring you the amount of hangers you ask for.

Like Harry, our backpacks are invaluable to us. We also take post-its to leave notes for each other when we are doing our separate things on the ship.

Take those short foot-long popout umbrellas with you in case it rains when you hit port! It seems to always do this around St. Thomas, and these little umbrellas pack easy, and are nothing to carry along with you if the skies look threatening.
Now here is a packing secret: I use 13 gallon white kitchen garbage bags turned upside down with a small one inch slit in the center of the bottom to hang over each individual shirt or trouser hanger I put in my garment bag. That includes my suits as well. It prevents wrinkles fairly well, until we get to our cabin on ship, where we immediately unpack the suitcases and hang everything up, minus the garbage bags, which I stow in the suitcases under the bed. I bring them back home and store them in the garment bag until the next time I pack it. Works pretty well, and if you are fussy about your clothes like me, and spend a lot of time ironing them before the cruise, you don't want to see a lot of wrinkles when you unpack them on ship Bon Voyage!

Sticky notepads for writing notes to your room steward.

Highlighter for using on the ship's newsletter to highlight what you don't want to miss.

I hve to have my coffee first thing too, but don't bother with heating elements, etc. That's why there is room service! You can instruct them each night to bring your coffee at a certain time the next morning.
