I have sailed twice before...

1) 7 night with husband
2) 4 night with husband and two kids

Now I am planning a 7 night trip to Bermuda for the 4 of us again.

My question is this, how many suitcases do you think I would need?

Also, I could use some tips so I don't over pack which I always do.

Re: Suitcases/Tips/Overpacking
Mix and match for hubby (sorry no woman ideas here).

But our standard for a 7 night is 1 suit, 2 pairs of dress pants, and shirts for each night that is not formal.

If you don't mind me asking. How many shorts, polo type shirts, bathing suits, etc. do you do for doing the day?

Re: Suitcases/Tips/Overpacking
you can get 2 days wear out of a pair of shorts, maybe 3 - on some days you will be in and out of your shorts and into your bathing suit more than anything else. I pack a t-shirt or a tank/sleevless shirt for each day - never know what the weather will be. 2 swimsuits for a 7 day cruise. Clean shirt each night for the men/boys. I pack sundressess for myself - just so easy to slip on with a pair of flat sandals and a light cardigan sweater. 3pairs of docker's type or cargo pants for the men/boys. I usually pack myself a pair of khakis also. 1suit - 2 dress shirt/ties, 1 pr. dress shoes- for the men/boys. 2 Formal outfits for the ladies.

Re: Suitcases/Tips/Overpacking
Like Lisa said, we always wear a pair of shorts at least twice (try bringing dark colors to hide any slight dirt).

We bring a fresh shirt for every day.

Only one pair of swim trunks -- we only go to the pool a couple times, so ample time to dry out.

Re: Suitcases/Tips/Overpacking
Do you use Spacebags?

Re: Suitcases/Tips/Overpacking
actually Harry had a great tip a bit ago about using Ziploc bags for socks and underwear, pack socks in one bag, get all the air out of it ( sit on it if you have to) and just throw it in your suitcase, same goes for the underwear. Same idea as spacebags but a heck of alot cheaper.
